Swimming is not a poetic sport.
Tommy doesn’t think that even Wilbur could make some grand epic about a sport where practice amounts to staring at a black line for hours on end. During practice, it’s just you, the workout posted on the kickboard, and that black line.
He’d be lying if he said it wasn’t intense, though.

“Thank the gods I’m not human, then,” Tommy says brightly, and stands. “We can start next week!”

They hadn't hurt him. They fed him and kept him in a weirdly soft room. One covered with blankets and pillows and practically nothing else.
Anytime Tommy demanded to be let out, Phil just cooed. It caused Tommy's bird brain to panic. He couldn't explain why but he agreed. Phil was a stranger. He had stolen Tommy. Tommy needed to get out of here. Get back to Dream.
"Fuck, Technoblade was right." Phil hissed, more to himself than to Tommy. "You've already imprinted, haven't you?"
