Summary
When ambushed by Nilfgaardian forces, Geralt finds himself rendered human. He and Jaskier immediately set out to find a witcher to help them track down the mage. All they have to do is keep Geralt alive until then. In the meantime, Geralt must learn to navigate the world as a human, complete with dull senses, weaker muscles, and oddly familiar emotions.

Summary
Despite Jaskier's hard work, there are still plenty of people who hate witchers. They think they're monstrous, inhuman, only held back from violence by a thin veneer of control. One mage has a plan to spread his views by capturing a witcher and bewitching them to remove their control. When the Butcher of Blaviken walks into his hideout, he's convinced he's found the perfect candidate - and a convenient way to get rid of the pesky bard that's been singing his praises.
Jaskier is forced to agree witchers are not human, but that doesn't mean they're dangerous. In fact, he's astounded by how many of Geralt's uncontrolled impulses involve touching.

He’s packing up camp the next morning when there’s a fluttering sound behind him, followed by a low coo. He turns, and the dove stares at him from a high branch. It ruffles its feathers, preening, then coos again.
“Hello.”
Geralt descends the mountain alone. Alone, that is, save for a little bird with a blood-red stain on its chest, refusing to leave his side. With his new companion singing as they travel, he can't help but be reminded of the person he left behind.

Now if Jaskier could only stop looking.
Instead, he holds Geralt’s gaze and puts his feelings into words. “It’s all in your eyes. The perpetual loneliness and quiet longing for refined company. I’m your best friend, how could I refuse such an overt supplication?”
