Colin looked over the menu, as much as sweet treats were weakness, so was having to choose between them. He flashed her a smile of his own. “I can’t decide, any recommendations for me?”
“Oh- well, if you’re looking for a nice drink, our peppermint hot chocolate is really popular. But if you want something to eat my personal favourite is the one of a kind cupcakes.”
That had him raise an eyebrow. Conversation was definitely part of being a functioning human being. “Okay, I’m curious- what makes these cupcakes one of a kind, exactly?”
“Well, you can’t get them from any other bakery, but it’s mostly a joke. The cupcakes have hundreds and thousands on them - but they’re still one of a kind,” she explained, a light blush of embarrassment on her cheeks. “I came up with it- I thought it was so funny at the time. But every time I explain it I end up questioning my sense of humour.”
Colin chuckled, it was dumb- so dumb- but it was also kind of endearing. “Don’t. That’s great.”
