It wasn’t a secret that Jason isn’t the easiest person to get along with. It was why so many people in the Justice League kept him at arms length until they needed him. So imagine Jason’s surprise when he manages to find a family in the avengers.
or: that one time Jason decided to be a decent human being and helped someone fight off a bunch of ninjas.

Summary
After Tony 'steps back' from the Avengers at the end of Age of Ultron, he talks about the team with Friday and realizes he had nothing to 'step back' from. He never was part of the team.
This story is a what if where Tony makes one change, which opens up new opportunities. One among them is an earlier proposal of marriage to Pepper than canonical. That is one among many many many facets of the story, it is not the main point of the story. Tony gains a support system, while other people lose theirs. Tony explores possibilities to defend the Earth. Tony gains allies.

Bookmarker's Notes
"The number of times dad complained about losing the shield made me wonder if that was his real motivation for searching for Rogers. He wasn't sentimental about anything else, so why would he spend a small fortune in the hope Rogers could be buried at Arlington instead of the Arctic?"

Tony Stark isn't iron. Tony Stark is RUBBER, bounces back and keeps on going.

"FUCK," Clint said. "I thought [Wanda] just threw things around. Have you been mind-fucking ME?"
-
Maybe Thor's zapping had messed [Vision] up, maybe he was a synthezoid premie.
-
Tony recalled his dad saying that Erskine said he'd chosen Steve because he was weak. That he trusted a weak man knows the value of strength, and knows compassion. Too bad that Erskine hadn't seen Revenge of the Nerds. Or Home Alone. Give a weak man power and expect him to show compassion for those he'd envied or feared? Not likely.

PA Vision :) - Uncle (Spider) Ben :)

Since they didn't go to war outside their nation, why did [Wakanda] need a standing army? Tony wondered if the different tribes battled each other. Or was it like an on-going Olympics, where the aim wasn't to defeat the enemy, but to earn status? -

Home is where you make it. Or, the AU where Loki falls to Earth after Thor, wanders around trying to work out what to do with himself, and somehow ends up working for SHIELD. (Mostly because supervillains are so plebian.)

Summary
Sometimes life is about making the right connection with the right person at exactly the right time. Finding Bobby after his relapse following the plane crash and deciding to step in and support him is precisely that kind of moment for both Hen and Buck. For Hen, it brings clarity about how to deal with Eva pushing herself back into her life, and for Buck, it brings friendships and support he wasn’t even aware he needed.
