'Why did you feel guilty for the death of Pietro Maximoff in the Sokovia Disaster[, Clint]?’ The Professor gave him a kind smile. ‘You must have had partners die before, and you had only just formed an uneasy alliance. Mr. Maximoff died, if my information is correct, saving yourself and a young child from gunfire. How should that incite feelings of guilt within yourself?’
It shouldn’t. Snipers were desensitised to death. At the very most, in the circumstances, Barton should have felt a bit of regret at the other man’s death.

Summary
Instead of dying a fiery, horrific death, Jason Todd watches as a strange man with eerie eyes and a too-casual attitude towards death saves his life... seemingly at the cost of his own. He is, understandably, more than a little bit shaken up over it.
Logan wakes up buried twenty feet underground, choking on dirt and a lack of air. For him, this doesn't even make the list for top ten weirdest things that have happened to him.
OR
From Jason's perspective, this is a tragedy. For Logan, it's a Tuesday.

“What would an agency like SHIELD want with Ironman? Isn’t it too public for them? I thought they thrived in the shadows?” Rhodey wondered.
This is a question Tony wished he had asked himself the first time around. Looking back at it now, he should have known what they wanted was a cash cow.
-
They called him irresponsible for not knowing his father’s business partner, who was CEO for four years after the death of his parents turned out to be dealing under the table. But when it was discovered that Hydra had been in SHIELD almost as long as the agency had been in existence, no one blamed Fury, Peggy or any of the people who knowingly hired terrorists. It was Hydra’s fault for infiltrating SHIELD, but it was Tony’s fault for not knowing his godfather was making deals with terrorists.
Such double standards.
-
Wolverine. Or James Howlett, or Logan, as he prefers to be addressed. Tony is never naming his kid James. They all seem to have something against being addressed by their actual names. Even his platypus. - :) -

Summary
What if Tony decided in Siberia that he couldn't just go home? He was used to being the scapegoat, but this time the cost would be more than he could pay.
Ross would have the ammunition he needed to get Iron Man under his control, and what he'd do with the tech didn't bear thinking about.
Tony decided to use Protocol Pass The Torch. He'd be fine. A penniless fugitive's life would make a nice change of pace. Everything would be peachy keen.
(Tony miscalculated the pull the world had on him. He also miscalculated how many people would join him. Ultimately, Thanos underestimated him.)

"I do not even know where the idea that the scepter could enhance human abilities originated. Loki used it to create obedient servants by usurping their wills, so logically that was what Hydra should have been attempting."

'Dumping?' that's more like burning letters to Santa in the fireplace and expecting magic to happen.Web pages have to be found by search engines that follow links, crawling from one to another, organizing.
SHIELD's data had been documents stored internally on stand alone computer systems. They weren't HTML web pages. There were no links to existing internet sites or Tony wouldn't have had to physically link Jarvis to the helicarrier. The helicarrier only had information relating to its own functions, including the research and storage of the Phase Two weapons. If they'd had Hydra mission reports... he'd have learned about his parents then.
Romanoff hadn't just removed firewalls from SHIELD's files, that would have done nothing.
Somehow, she'd converted everything to webpages, and uploaded everything to various clouds, and then put links on common words in every file to existing popular sites. Search Wikipedia for hawks, and find Hawkeye's mission reports. Go looking for a toy helicopter on Amazon, find the helicarrier's blueprints. He didn't know the exact sequence of events of course. Probably the raw data was uploaded along with the converter and linking programs, and the power of the cloud itself was used to do the rest.
He wondered if Fury realized exactly what Romanoff planned to do, or if he'd been blindsided, and then couldn't admit he'd screwed up.

"We don't trade lives," Rogers said, sternly."What the hell do you think war is, man? People died here, trading their lives for others."
