How did all of this began?
Well...it started when I was eleven years old.

With a light kiss against my right hand that bears the bright red rose scar...I would end up getting thrown into this unbelievable tale filled with the thirty-nine musketeers.
And it all started the day I met my first noble musketeer, Brown Bess.

After an unexpected comment, Impey cracks a joke about Van Helsing being sick.
No one is particularly happy to learn that he's right.

“It isn’t going to be effective.” Van Helsing says over his shoulder. “You all run, I’ll buy you some time.”
“Hold on, Van. You couldn’t handle this guy by yourself last time, yeah?” Impey says with a nervous laugh. “I’m not going anywhere.”
“I’ll stay too. No matter how hard that armor is, chemicals should still be able to affect the person inside.” Fran says, glaring daggers as he circles the figure, still shrouded in smoke. Slowly, silently, he pulls a myriad of vials out of the holster at his thigh, all different colors— trial and error. Impey follows suit, circling the other direction.
“…Do what you want. Just don’t get in my way.” Van sighs, forcing an unbidden smile off his face. He can’t have them seeing it and getting all sentimental on him, they’re too attached as-is.
Besides, Impey won’t ever let him live it down if he realizes that their decision to stay brought Van Helsing a small sense of relief, and that would be a fate worse than death.

This work is technically a sequel to "Those Who Bring Destruction" a previous work of mine. However this piece does stand on it's own decently well if you don't want to read that one first. -
