They had left him behind; NO, the enemy and time had snatched them away. From the security of their presence, from the security of his mystic and the familiar Hamato Ninpo. He couldn't have resented time more.
But, at last, his time had come.
It wasn't his own mystic, crying out to his being extinguished by the profound pain of the absence Michelangelo felt in the form of his family, that extinguished him. No. Despite the pleas of Gram-Gram and the Hamato clan in the afterlife. Despite the echoes of ninpo and the spirits of his only family crying out to receive him not too soon in the end.
No, Michelangelo simply had nothing left to give, having already given everything he had to be reunited with his family.
A ritual.
It had only been a ritual.
One that brought him to the brink of death shortly after saving New York, once again.
He waited, his eyes closed, for his end, his bittersweet, sweet end.
