So he decided that he didn’t care about stupid dimensions and portals and whatever science had been behind it. He acted, in the only way he could think of, in the only way that mattered because he knew he could save him if h tried hard enough. He would give his life to, but he couldn’t do it alone.

17-year-old Ashlyn Banner, shrouded in trauma and a difficult family situation, moves to Alto, where she also goes to a new school. She doesn't trust anyone and is afraid to establish close relationships with other people.
Aiden Clark will try to do everything in his power to convince her and make her trust him.

Mike and Emma are not Ashlyn's parents in this book. They are characters invented by me. I didn't want to make monsters out of these two because I love them. However, they appear in the book, but in a different role.

You may be a little surprised by Ashlyn's behaviors and thoughts, which are sometimes like this, and once they are like that. However, I wanted to describe a person whose trauma has already messed up so much that this person does not know what to think, how to think. In this book, Ash is a terribly lost character and I wanted to reproduce it as much as possible.

"What?" Ashlyn looks up and sees exactly what her mom described. Three translucent pink hearts hover high above her head, drifting lazily like smoke. She waves her hand through them and they dissipate, only to reform a second later.
She looks at her dad, who had gotten up from the couch at the urgency in his wife’s voice, and both her parents' eyes track upward again. There are five hearts now.

"You're sure this is safe?" Aiden's voice drifted up from below, tinged with that excitement he carried everywhere.
"No," Ashlyn said flatly, not looking back, “But you’re still following me anyway.”

Tyler had also shared the same Psychology class with her and had always attended pretty diligently — so it didn't feel right not having him here because of his hospital stay due to what happened in the Phantom Realm a few nights ago.
A chill went down her spine as she recalled the feeling of looking out to see Tyler's impaled body on the tree, all the blood pouring out of his stomach.
