Sokka always was jealous because of the people in his tribe. His younger sister, Katara was the last waterbender in their village. All the men from there went to war for fighting against the Fire Nation, leaving him in the tribe.
He really wanted to improve that he also was special. He really wanted to fight the people who took his mother away from home.
But he didn't expect how important he was going to become in the whole world's fate and how a one meeting could change his life.

Avatar Aang is found by the Fire Nation's circus and captured. Acrobat, Ty Lee, interferes and frees him, marking a start of a new journey for them both. Aside from being a survivor of a horrible genocide and his small, though harrowing captivity time with the Fire Nation, leaving terrible scars on the young Avatar, he was already in love with her at first sight. Alternatively Prince Zuko's life is more complicated, not only having to chase them, but on a journey with Katara of the Southern Water Tribe. Their past scars loom over them, past trauma and mutual loss leading to conflicting emotions of all type, that eventually flourishes into a unfamiliar road for both as well. The tone of this is going to be a darker, gritter, more serious, one of the Avatar's universe. (AU)

Mai plans to kill Ozai, she doesn't know how, when or if she can she just knows she needs to kill the bastard that hurt Zuko, maybe even punch Azula for extra measure because she's being a bitch.
Zuko loves Mai, he will live for her when he couldn't live for himself he lived for her, to see her. He just wished she'd stop being so over-protective and let them fight together.

This was funny considering she didn’t remember sleeping for more than 2 hours in day because while healing Aang. As her consciousness returned slowly, she heard a weird murmuring sound.
It was a man's voice, a very deep raspy voice which murmured, "Come back to us, Katara. Come back to me." And was he holding her hand in a gentle grip? She slowly opened her eyes, squinting at the sudden light and then..... It was all red.
