Silence. That’s what fills the air at the Digital Lake. No words muttered under the shrieks of quiet. Jax didn’t know who made the first move to leave after the whole shitshow that was Caine’s most recent adventure. All he could do was sit there in the sand, feet burrowing in as he shuffled them, trying to ground himself.
However, he stopped in his tracks with a startle when he heard a sniffle from a familiar voice.

Summary
A fantasy au where Pomni is the daughter of kinger and queenie, and she is far from the perfect princess. As far as the royal court is aware, she is a boring spinster who spends all of her time in her studies. In reality, her studies by day are just an excuse to learn more about her less acceptable hobbies by night. She's a thrill seeker. She practices acrobatics to keep herself honed for exploring her city's rooftops and abandoned buildings by night. She pickpockets just about every noble who enters the palace doors. She has a pervasive habit of poking her nose into things she shouldn't.
And then her father, Kinger, decides to marry her off to a stranger: the heir of a neighboring country. It happens with absolutely zero warning, and he avoids giving Pomni a straight answer. He seems almost afraid to.
The same night her life is turned on its head, a circus comes to her city. She immediately becomes infatuated with two of the cast members, and learns that the circus might just be a possible escape from her arranged marriage to the strange heir.

Pomni nodded into the darkness, already beginning to drift in and out of consciousness. In the silence of the room, though, the idea that had pricked her brain earlier began to slowly swell. As she drifted into sleep, half-formed ideas about high-school bullies and lessons her mother had once taught her danced at the edges of her mind, following her gently into sleep.
By the time Pomni awoke the next morning, the idea had forged itself into something solid and real and defiant.
She would not be asking Caine for a new key. One way or another, she would make Jax open that door.

Summary
After an unexpected glitch in the circus, Jax finds himself back in the real world, completely alone, leaving the circus on the same day that he entered. Jax struggles to reconnect with his previous life as a classical violinist, studying performance at a music conservatory. He throws it all away to live a meaningless life, having suppressed his emotions for so long that he can't find it in his heart to care about music anymore.
A few years later, a familiar face shows up in the coffee shop he works at that completely flips his world around and makes him see the brighter sides to life.
