Summary
Some claim that the end of the Age of Fire was first foretold when the sun flickered one bright afternoon. 'Twas nothing but an old wives' tale, yet in this current scourge of the Undead Curse it was a tale all the more tempting to tell, particularly amongst those poor souls inflicted with it. The sun itself had let slip its doubt on the earth and its people below, and soon enough the world will cease to be. Even still, hope flickers within the twilight of this Age. If the legends are true, then among the accursed a Chosen Undead shall arise and save the world from this wicked darkness.
Few believe such a legend to be true. Fewest of all believe this hero to be a strange, poisonous, loveless thief known only as Leiurus the Scorpion.
Sometimes a tragedy, sometimes a comedy, and most often containing far more proactive NPCs and wild speculation on their backgrounds, this is a creative novelization of my very first playthrough of Dark Souls.

The Age of Fire is coming to an end, and with it, the world. Within the once divine kingdom of Lordran, a horrible curse of undeath spreads like wildfire, leaving lost souls and crumbling civilizations in its wake. Humanity is in danger, and with little hope there are not many options remaining. Despite the darkness, Atiri, a young Eastern girl infected by the curse, hopes to fulfill a prophecy, said to uplift the curse once and for all. She also seeks to discover who she was and her purpose. Atiri is accompanied by two others afflicted by this curse: A nameless warrior who has failed the journey once before, now crestfallen and broken, as well as a pious cleric who had spent his Undead fate seeking vengeance and soaking his hands in innocent blood.
As well as Atiri, the story follows the perspective of a merchant named Domhnall, a knight of noble blood named Oscar, and a frail clergy girl named Rhea. “Alter Vita - A Second Chance” is a redemption story and a complete re-telling of the events of "Dark Souls" but with a novel spin.
Will these Undead men and women use their second chance wisely? Only time will tell...

After narrowly escaping a doomed fate in an asylum, an undead warrior fights their way through the desolate remains of Lordran, once a sprawling utopia led by the gods, to seek purpose and fulfill a centuries-old prophecy. The Age of Fire is coming to an end as Humanity is in danger with little to no hope. Leaving an undead curse on civilization all around their land, crumbling into darkness. Comes along a young knight of Astora, stricken with memory loss and the curse of the undead she travels all across Lordrian to fulfill a prophecy to link the flame. On her way to remember who she was and to find what her purpose in life was all along. Along her journey, she makes friends, acquaintances, enemies, and lovers within the world, many others the same as her with the curse of the undead and fulfilling their purposes in life. Accompanying Bowie along her journey are fellow Astorians Oscar and Solaire, seeking out the same fate in this violent world.
A narrative story told from Bowie's perspective, shall she be able to remember who she was and find what she was truly born to do? let the journey begin.

Set during the events of Dark Souls, we see into several protagonists points of view, all during different parts of the timeline that takes place in Dark Souls. The flow of time is convoluted after all, isn't it? In The Allegory of The First Flame we will mainly see the heroes of our tale during The War Against The Dragons, The Age Of Fire, and The Fire Fades. We'll follow Melysara the commoner as she wakes up in the Undead Asylum carrying on the prophecy of the Chosen Undead, Kitt as he makes his pilgrimage to Lordran from the Great Swamp in hopes to find Chaos pyromancies, Schierke on her journey from a scholarly court mage to Lord Gwyn in Anor Londo make her new life while the fire is fading, Ser Aelwyn sister to the Knight Artorias, as she makes decisions that lead her to become the forgotten Knight of Gwyn. Each character has their own struggles with romance as well, and in some way their fates all become intertwined.

Follow the journey of an undead wanderer in her pilgrimage through Lordran to overcome death, decay and pain, finding disturbingly crazy people, violent murderers and companions illuminating even the darkest places with their sun-touched souls.
Without memories and devoured by bitterness, she will have to rediscover herself and unravel her past to face her future. As the First Flame fades, only clinging to whatever is left of her humanity could save her, but luckily, there's an annoyingly merry knight willing to remind everyone that there's still happiness at the end of the world.-
This is the first part of my story set during the events of Dark Souls 1. It follows canon as closely as possible, being respectful with existing lore and expanding on it while trying to be faithful to Dark Souls universe. It has art and illustrations made by myself.
