The lone star state was being oddly nice since he wanted California's first time at the range and using a gun in over 60 years to be a good one. Maybe even nice enough to ease up on all his gun control laws. Plus, it's not like the two states hated each other. They were just both stubborn and convinced they were in the right, so they ended up arguing a lot more than most of the other states. At one point Florida even joked that they were flirting like elementary students.
Even though he wouldn't actually die, the sheer intensity of those intrusive thoughts scared him. He didn't know what they were back then, so he thought he was just having a twisted humanesque fantasy every time he looked at it.
The golden state buried the revolver deep in his basement after that, and told New York to change the code so he couldn't access it alone. Thankfully, the antidepressants he was on now helped those violent thoughts fade into the background.
Texas's low whistle brought California back to the present, where they were in a completely safe and heavily supervised environment. Everything was okay, California reminded themselves. They were (mostly) better now.
