Summary
Regulus struggles in vain, his thin, seeker's build no match for James' strength. The lack of food has left him weakened, making it even harder to break free. He tries to protest, but his words come out in broken gasps, the grip on his throat tightening, causing him to claw desperately at his own neck as his vision begins to blur.
Regulus' attempts to wriggle out of James' grasp are feeble, his strength diminishing with each passing moment.
"Stay. the fuck. away. from. Sirius. " James warns through gritted teeth and squeezes Regulus's neck harder. As Regulus struggles he wonders if it's worth it, if it would really be so bad if he died right now, just like this. If Sirius would even miss him at all.

The world pauses. Sirius can’t hear a thing, and his peripheral vision blacks out. Something buried deep inside of him starts screaming when the face between James’ hands meets his eyes.
No. It can’t be.
"Regulus?"
And this man—this, being, this creature with his face, looks back at him. Angular features, sharp cheekbones, intense blue-gray eyes, only a few shades off from Sirius’ own. Across his face run the same three scars that Sirius got so comfortable seeing across Léonie’s, and with a pang of hurt, Sirius, for just one moment, thinks of Remus.
He looks… terrified.
James follows the path of his gaze to look up at Sirius. He has tears in his eyes. But all Sirius can think is:
That is not him.
The face’s mouth moves.

Regulus was suppposed to die on his 17th birthday.
Little did he know that time traveling while choking on some kind of poison in inferi infested waters would be somehow easier than just plain old dying.
Or: Regulus is about to die but somehow manages to travel back in time to the year of 1942 and has to cope with the fact that he might never see his friends again and that he still has to go to school for some reason. Well the latter is probably because he’s in his 15 year old body but oh well-
I’m bad at summary’s so yea read with caution this has mentions of blood, gore, family issues, suicide and prolly a bit of suicidal idealization? Just don't read this if you don’t feel ok even though most of the themes are probably not gonna be heavy hitting.

How will Sirius react to his death? Would he grieve? Would he scoff, disgusted at how weak his little brother had once again proved to be? Would he be relieved that Regulus was finally gone? Would he cry, if not for Regulus now, for the child that he had once cared for? Or would he not react at all? Would he glance at the paper, shrug, and go back to his morning tea?
Loathe as he is to admit it, that’s the idea that frightens him the most. Sirius had been his everything once. (Maybe he still is, not that Regulus would ever admit it to himself.) And he likes to imagine that once he had been as important to Sirius as he was to him, at least, before he had gone off to Hogwarts and met the infamous James Potter. Before Regulus had been sorted into Slytherin, just like the rest of his family, and any hope that his brother may have once had for him had faded away in an instant.
Or: To escape a life he doesn't want, Regulus tries to kill himself. It doesn't go according to plan, but sometimes that's the best thing that can happen.
