Summary
El runs and she keeps running until she's about as far away from home as she figures she can get. And as the years go by, she manages to carve out a peaceful sort of existence. It's not a happy life, but she's content with the knowledge that the loved ones she left behind are safe and happy.
But while Mike's safe, he's not happy, not by a long shot. He's living a half-life, living under the shadow of the love he lost... of the love he knows is still out there, somewhere, waiting for him to find her.
And when Mike finally has enough of surviving without living and embarks on an aimless journey to find her, El knows her days of isolation are behind her. Because the longer Mike tries to search for her, the more attention he brings to himself and the more likely he'll put himself in danger. So she leaves a trail of breadcrumbs to guide him to her, as always willing to do anything to keep him safe.
And when they reunite in the sleepy village El has learned to call home, they'll learn if they can move past the shadow of the history they share... and if they can rediscover the love that once shone brighter than the sun.

Summary
Everyone believes Eleven died saving the world.
Everyone except Mike.
Five years later, hope is the one thing he no longer trusts. He saw her fall. He learned to live with her absence. And yet, some part of him refuses to let her go completely, even as he writes her death into fiction, page after page. When the publishing house demands a happier ending for his novel, Mike realizes how little hope he truly has left. He cannot rewrite the story. He cannot imagine Eleven alive, not in his book, not in real life. To him, changing the ending would mean lying to himself.
As punishment -or salvation-, his editor sends him to Iceland, to the place where Mike once promised Eleven they would meet again, where waterfalls crash against stone and the world feels far from Hawkins and everything that broke them.
What Mike does not know is that destiny is not done with him yet. And sometimes, the place where hope seems most impossible is exactly where it waits. Truth is some promises, no matter how impossible they seem, are not meant to remain broken.

Set a decade after the explosion in 1987. Everyone was moving on, but Mike still remained in the past. As the search for El continued in secrets, would he finally be at rest reclaiming the person he had lost, or lost in the pursuit of nothingness in the name of her existence?
or
Mike lifted a corner of his mouth in the endearing dimpled smile that she had missed so much, and she thought her heart might just burst from happiness.
“I think, it’s high time we upgrade this ring into a real one.” He smirked, kissing the tips of her fingers.
“You know me. You know my heart—by heart.”

Summary
Mike Wheeler has been waiting for a decade, and yet every day he reckons he can wait a little longer. Everybody else moved on — but he remained unchanging. Same time, same routine, same spot where he would sit and stare at the place where he last saw El — where he last felt her touch. Ten years on, that memory is as fresh as the pain he felt when she disappeared. It’s as if he’s been stuck exactly where she left him.
A few days before the anniversary of El’s disappearance, Mike realizes he’s being watched — watched long before he even begins to piece the puzzle together. The military has been keeping an eye on him, and he can’t think of any reason except that they believe he would lead them to someone — to El. That, like him, they also believe she’s alive.
And that fragile hope is enough to ignite something inside him. If she’s alive, he’s going to get to her first — hide her from the rest of the world before they can even catch up. He’s going to find her — even if he has to search every corner of the world, every place with at least three waterfalls, just like he promised.

Summary
It has been 4 years since the Upside Down was destroyed and with it the girl Mike loved more than anything. The theory that she survived and is living in peace keeps him going, inspired to write her story disguised as a simple fantasy novel. He stays in contact with the party that has been spread out, but he is alone most of the time, spending his days at his typewriter.
El has managed to find peace in Iceland, making new friends and living without the threat of captivity under a different name, but something is missing in her life ever since she said goodbye to the boy she loved more than anything. She always thinks about her previous life in Hawkins, writing letters to them that she will never send.
One day, El walks into the bookstore and notices a familiar name on the cover of a bestselling fantasy novel. "The Storyteller and the Mage" it was called. And this version had the happily ever after they both had wanted.
Maybe it was still possible. Maybe Mike could write the ending after all. El just did not know how possible it was.
