Summary
Mike Wheeler wasn’t born a Wheeler; he was adopted at five years old after spending his entire life at Saint Paul’s Orphanage. Adjusting to his new family is harder than he imagined, especially when his sister Nancy resents his presence and kids at school question if he truly belongs. As Mike grows up, he struggles with feelings of rejection and self-doubt while trying to figure out where he fits in the world.
—————
He stood there, his backpack on, his cheeks still wet with tears, and said in a small, broken voice, “I want to go home.”Karen’s face crumbled, her lips quivering as she tried to keep her composure. She knelt down to his level, reaching out to him. “Honey, you are home.”
Mike shook his head firmly, his little fists clenching the straps of his backpack. “No, I’m not. This isn’t my home. You’re not my mom. Ted’s not my dad. And Nancy’s not my sister. I want to go back to Saint Paul’s. I want Mother Mary.”
Mike shook his head harder, his lip trembling.”I hate it here! Please, just take me back. I want to go home.”
This is on hiatus.

"Cause even when you're gone I'm in the palm of your hand"
~ Rollercoaster, Charlotte SandsHe was secretly glad she’d offered to take Holly up there.
He hated it the first time because he had far too many memories of what happened the last time he was in the sky to make him uncomfortable, but this time there was more tied to the ride and less about his days in the air force.
A sick part of him wished it was just the accident that he tied to the memories of the spinning wheel, another part of him hated that it was actually one of the last times he felt like they were a family before he found out that they'd not been one for a while before then,
God he's getting sick of thinking of blonde hair and her bubbly laugh. It really makes his teeth hurt. Or maybe his teeth are hurting because he's clenching his jaw-

“I can’t get ahold of Mom. I just want to get ahold of Mom. and I just want fucking scream at the top of my lungs but for some reason, I can’t. I feel like I can’t talk above this tone.”
She took a shaky breath as she ran her hands down her face, annoyed by the snot and tears but also so tired she couldn’t give a fuck about it.
“I’m going to kill that fucking shark.”
That did shock the man into a reaction, his eyebrows raised slightly above his brow as he let go of a long breath.
“No one’s killing any sharks kid, as for your mom here, use my phone. Try her number again. It’ll come up as the police so she’ll probably answer fast. I’m gonna go collect two more reports and then I’ll get back to you ok?”
He handed her the phone, and after she took it he rested his hand on her shoulder, giving her a soft squeeze,
“Hang in there kid, it’s gonna be ok.”
She stared at the Cop's phone, her blotchy face in the reflection.
It must be so easy to assume everything is going to be ok when it isn't your world that's been turned on it's head on a random afternoon.

Summary
"Claudia never told Karen she had a crush on Ted back in the day before she got with Walt. Maybe she won't care now that they're divorced and the feelings were starting to return. He's still that sweet, awkward man who sometimes puts his foot in his mouth. It helped that Dustin got along with him and liked him a lot. She'd give him time to heal, and then she would make her feelings known. "

Summary
"'Oh, Michael, it really wasn’t that b-"
Ted was cut off by the sound of Mike crying. His little hands reached up to his eyes and rubbed them, while also holding the part of the face that the ball hit.
For a split second, Ted recalled when his own father first played football with him. The events of the summer of 1944 flooded through his head. His old man’s weary face, the strong scent of cologne, and the cigar that was always gripped between his lips. Ted fell face first on the grassy field and instead of comforting crying Ted, his father had beaten him for being a “sissy” and not man-ing up.
After swearing he would be nothing like his father, God bless him, he scooped up his weeping son and carried him to the kitchen, where he found Karen.

Summary
The Wheelers' are stunned when their son Michael receives an ominous prophecy. The summer of Mike's 5th year of life, Ted is confronted by a boy who may very well be at the center of his son's prophecy. Will Byers also carries dark magic in his body, a harbinger of a calamity headed for the land of Hawkins.
Mike nodded.
“I mean it. Defend his safety above all else.”
Mike was only five, but he knew those words. He understood what was expected.
“Above all else. Yes, dad, I heard you.”
