A slayer of old is reincarnated. Haunted by memories that he doesn't understand of blood and regret, he vows never to hold a blade and takes up the mantle of a healer instead.

Zanka hums, settling back into the mattress as he considers it.
The idea of eating someone should be incomprehensible to him. It's disgusting. It's cruel. It's most definitely some kind of violation of bodily autonomy. It's exactly the sort of thing that Zanka Nijiku, ex-Hell Guard, Cleaner, and all-around model employee, should avoid at all costs.
Those are also all things that could be used to describe his relationship with Jabber.
(At some point, it stopped being just about the fights.)

Zanka didn't mean to get set off.
It was supposed to be a regular sparring session. Teaching Rudo close combat, what to do in the event he didn't have anything he could use 3R on.
The boy was fast, forcing Zanka to break a sweat in a battle he would otherwise have had the upper hand on. Rudo was a scrawny kid, nothing without his overpowered jinki. Zanka was a Nijiku, a former Hell Guard trainee. He should've had the upper hand.
So when Rudo ended up kicking his ankles hard enough to make him stumble and throwing his full body weight to take him down, something in Zanka snapped.
