Summary
“I used to ask Judge every day what I did to deserve this,” King thunders. “Do you know what he finally told me?!”
Sanji’s chest wracks with something dangerously close to a sob. “He said it’s because you were born!”
And despite all his grace, King stumbles –– like an angel cast out of heaven, taking his first wobbly steps on mortal ground. It’s clear he thought the question was rhetorical from the way he wavers, “How did you know that?” like he hadn’t even expected an answer, let alone the right one.
Sanji tries to respond, but he looks at King and sees a twisted science experiment, and sees––god, fuck, himself. Sees a man who spent his childhood strapped to a surgical table, and it was the closest thing he had to being held.
This is it. He has nothing left to hide. Sanji reaches a precious hand into the Pandora’s box inside his soul and rips it open, lets the ruins fly.
“Because he said the same thing to me!”

Despite everything he did, all the pain he caused and the lives he took, Naruto grins at him, as though meeting an old friend.
“Hey,” Naruto greets. “Welcome back.”
“Hey,” he returns with an unused voice, “what the fuck?”

Feng Xin narrowed his eyes at the odd sight.
“Tai Hua dianxia, do you see that?" Feng Xin elbowed the near-sleeping Lang Qian Qiu next to him. He indicated to a frowning Mu Qing standing across the hall, whose cloud of grey was growing darker and darker like a dark veil of mist around him, slightly obscuring its host from Feng Xin’s view.
“See what?” Lang Qian Qiu blinked his sleepy eyes. “Is that a bruise on his face? Did you punch him again?” he asked as he squinted at Mu Qing, who stood alone, disregarding the gods around him.
"Uh, yeah," Feng Xin replied uncertainly, realizing he was the only one who could see the whirl of dark grey mass resembling a slow-moving tornado. "That's it."
“Good job, Nan Yang,” Lang Qian Qiu said as he moved back, and his eyes began to close again.
