Charles Châtenay, Arthur's old artist friend whom he helped back in Saint Denis in 1899, has invited him to an art exhibit in New York. As he recalls, that man's "art" was called too provocative by the commonfolk.
Back in the day Arthur found it entertaining when people were screaming for Châtenay's head to be on a pike, but now that he himself is tied to a woman—and Sadie Adler no less—maybe he better gauge his own reactions or else his girl will shoot a bullet into his ass.
