Summary

“When you went feral before, as Ifrit, mind, I was able to put you down.” Cid rubs his jaw thoughtfully. “Could do that again when you’re in heat, stop you from hurting anyone. We would probably –”
“Yeah,” Clive interrupts, his face aflame. He sits back down. He understands what Cid is offering and why. Heats alone were agony. Even a shit partner was usually considered better than none. It was even possible that the matter of Clive’s heats had already crossed Cid’s mind, and the man likely assumed that Clive would either find his own partner, and if he couldn’t then Cid would offer to see him through it. It was just the sort of thing that Cid would do, helping someone who needed it.
Then Cid adds, “I can admit it’s not complete selflessness on my part. The thought of you alone, in heat, gone mad with suffering…” His voice dips into a low growl. “Don’t like it much.” The smell of static fills the room and Clive suppresses a shudder.
