Três anos se passaram desde o dia em que os mortos inesperadamente voltaram a vida, pegando a todos de surpresa e os obrigando a aprenderem a viver num novo mundo. Com a criação de comunidades, consideradas atualmente como os abrigos mais seguros e confortáveis para os sobreviventes, teoricamente tudo poderia voltar aos eixos, dando a eles um gostinho das suas antigas vidas, pelo menos era isso que a comunidade de Brentwood planejava, mas com a chegada de novas pessoas e segredos dos moradores mais antigos e confiáveis vindo a tona, a tempestade depois de toda aquela calma parece finalmente estar vindo, servindo de lembrete que não são somente os zumbis com que se devem preocupar.

O curso para assumir o cargo de agente de justiça sempre foi um dos mais disputados e privilegiados, apenas sendo disponibilizado em universidades específicas em alguns países, por meio de exames. Era para ser um ano como todos os outros, onde iriam dar as boas vindas a nova turma de aprovados, porém a chegada de oito alunos, dentro desse grupo, muda tudo, conforme suas motivações e segredos passam a desencadear eventos que começam a revelar a verdadeira face da fonte de poder do país onde vivem, com a ajuda de um professor recém contratado, que aparenta ter seus próprios planos, podendo ser um aliado ou mais um inimigo.

It had been a little over two months since Megumi and Tsumiki had moved in with him—a little over two months of them taking packed lunches to school, and being read bedtime stories, and being enrolled in extracurriculars for the first time in their lives. They were well-fed, well-rested, and well-dressed, and Satoru was so pleased… even if he was no longer any of those things himself.
It had been as easy as breathing to bring them into his life, to consider them his own flesh and blood, to love them as his own children; yet somehow it was simultaneously the hardest thing Satoru had ever done.
