Schlatt can't hurt him again.
But Quackity asks him one more time and it sounds to Schlatt like it's breaking at the end. He feels it in his own chest like the toying grip of arresting fingers, wrapped around his heart.
They squeeze and he understands that what Quackity is feeling right then is pain.

"No, no-" Quackity interrupted before the weight on his own shoulders became too great. "I don't get it. I never want to get that, okay."
Wilbur pitched forward. He reached. His eyes were flame-like and searching.
Quackity glanced to the edge of the bed that waited behind him. "I don't want to understand you at all."
Quackity finds Wilbur Soot passed out in a shoveled snowbank. Wilbur is freezing to the touch and speaking nonsense. Reluctantly taking pity on him, Quackity drags Wilbur into the safety of an empty room on the hotel's ground floor.
It is just to keep Wilbur warm.
It's just to bring him back to life so Quackity can boot him out the second he gets too annoying.
But when Wilbur stirs, when he's warmer and annoying once again, Quackity changes his mind. He does the unthinkable.
He stays.
But little does he know it's all according to Wilbur's greater plan.

Nearly five years after a fatal incident during a routine spacewalk orbiting the gas giant Halosydne, Quackity now lives a quiet, simple life as a mental health counselor on the surface of the moon colony LN-925.
However when Quackity's old Academy instructor, Philza, approaches him with an offer Quackity agrees to join as therapist for an isolated research team. He quickly finds himself indefinitely stationed on a polar base investigating the sudden death and disappearance of a crew of several Manberg Industries operatives on a nearby failed terraforming project known as LN-426.
Once settled in on the icy and storm-ridden surface of the natural satellite, Quackity quickly begins to orbit closer to one of his new patients, Dr. Wilbur Soot. It's not soon after life on base and his sessions with Wilbur become routine that a deadly secret begins to grow inside of Quackity.
He doesn't know that She exists.
He doesn't know that She will kill him. (And everyone else too).

He thinks it'll be easy. In four weeks he'll comply with the judge's court orders. In four weeks he'll still press for Manberg Co. to pay up its $10.5 billion dollar judgement to the thousands of indigenous peoples impacted by the company's destructive land practices carried out along the Mexican-American border.
And Quackity, he knows it will only be four weeks.
But when the dressed down owner of Manberg Co. appears at his doorstep Quackity quickly learns he has no choice but to do whatever Schlatt asks of him.
Four weeks. It will only be four weeks if he plays nice.
