The suspect was found on scene, 18 year old Anya Forger, holding the murder weapon sat limp in a chair unresponsive and covered in a mix of her own and Donovan's blood. Days later she confessed to the crime. Damian never moved past that, he tried to rewrite history, say he always hated her, but fate ensured that he would have to face her.

This life, Anya opts out. She ignores politics, eats pastries, and lets history ruin itself without her involvement. That ends when she saves Damian’s life, and he responds like any sensible future warlord would: by proposing immediately. Now she’s engaged to the man who’ll destroy the world, and worse, her plan to do nothing with her life has gone off the rails.
It’s all going surprisingly well, aside from the constant sense she’s being outmanoeuvred in a game nobody wants to admit they’re playing.

When Yor and Loid finally ripped off their respective band-aids and told one another about their real jobs, it was like an unspoken weight was lifted off the Forger household. Of course, deciding it'd only be fair, Anya had told her parents about her powers as well.
By way of a note left on the dining table, at eleven at night, with no Anya to be found.
Logically, she decided to hide out in the last place anyone would go looking for her, just in case the response to that particular reveal was... less than ideal.
