An attempt at a SI-fic with a character not quite lucky enough to be given easy access to the main cast. Sporting a fresh case of “amnesia” and a disgustingly overpowered cursed technique to balance out his ineptitude, the casual fan who’s replaced Naoya Zen’in has enough on his plate without having to muddle through clan politics and the social repercussions of incarnating as such an utter bastard. It’s going to be really hard to save the world and not die when he’s barely involved in the original plot … and when he never even finished the damn manga.
Maybe he’s only half-lying when he says he doesn’t remember anything.

It’s as Shen Qingqiu crushes the last little fluttering Iridescent Gem Beetle that the mother decides to introduce herself by burrowing up out of the earth like a cicada the size of an elephant. He just barely has time to resign himself to an even more exhausting fight than the last one - with no rest point in between to chug stamina potions or anything! Honestly, what poor game design! - when the stranger appears.
He charges into the scene out of nowhere like an absolute bullshit deus ex machina, all dark, flowing hair and robes, whirling around to stab at the Mother Beetle with a gleaming white sword, making it screech and rear back in pain. Seriously, Shen Qingqiu feels like he’s suddenly trapped in a video game cutscene introducing the new companion! Where’s the background music and camera close up? Who is this guy?

Summary
The Abyss remained a gauntlet of horrors, with a new threat around every corner, with only Luo Binghe's cunning and the strength of his demonic blood keeping him alive. How funny, that the thing that corrupted him and finally gave that Shen Qingqiu the excuse to kill him, was the same thing that ensured that plan never succeeded.
Fleeing from one monster sent him into the jaws (literally) of another. A ghost puppeteering a monster's rotting corpse chased him into an eerily darkened wood, and he'd stumbled into the trap of a spider-monster. It was a small mercy that its venom didn't hurt. It left him loose-limbed and unnaturally relaxed, and the fear he should have felt couldn't quite linger.

It is extremely obvious that Qiu Jianluo has been replaced by a demon wearing his face, but not a single servant is willing to be the first to bring it up to their lord or their lady. Like, that guy sucked. He's far more tolerable this way.
Shen Jiu takes to stalking the demon in an attempt to get him to reveal his true colors, but he's just... some softhearted dork? The only thing unsettling about him is his obsession with monster trivia, but that, Shen Jiu kinda gets. Monsters DO seem interesting to learn about.

He’s beginning to develop a pounding headache which defies his very biology, but he’s also had at least three heart attacks by now, because sinking to your knees in despair while surrounded by clattering beads on the floor is an integral part of the friendship-bracelet-making experience, apparently.
