“Scared Potter?” Malfoy sneered, and Harry snapped. He was done, finished, fed up with playing the innocent little Gryffindor with no common sense and a microscopic amount of intelligence. He rolled his eyes.
“Why yes Malfoy, I’m terrified, can’t you see me quaking in my boots? You, a second year child armed with a stick is the scariest thing I’ve ever seen. Please, please don’t fatally injure me in front of three hundred witnesses and two teachers with your mean words and nasty smiles. Whatever shall I do?” The entire hall fell silent and Malfoy gaped. Harry smirked. Lockhart looked entirely bemused, and he thought Snape might be holding back a laugh.
Harry spent his first year hiding his intelligence and playing the role of the Boy Who Lived. However Lockhart and Malfoys' combined presence finally causes him to snap, and chaos ensues from there.

Summary
After Ron and Hermione botch a ritual in an attempt to stop Harry abandoning them to live his own life, Harry is left trapped within the boundaries of Hogwarts in his Seventh Year. With the other students blaming him for the bad decisions of his peers in retaliation for seeking retribution, the Staff of Hogwarts take up the role of his new family, whether he likes it or not. Strangely enough, it's the resident Potions Master who has the biggest impact on him. He just doesn't realize how big of an impact until it's almost too late.
Follow along on the various holidays and summer vacations as Harry's prison, which was once his home, is given new meaning with the help of his former teachers.

Delve into an unofficial 8th book as Harry and Hermione return for their seventh year. Harry struggles with the aftermath of the Battle of Hogwarts, death of loved ones, and maintaining relationships. Failing classes and avoiding friends, he questions his decision to be an Auror and his future place in the Wizarding world. A sullen Draco rallies and returns to Hogwarts, putting on a brave face for the redemption of his family. Ron is fumbling at the ministry while Hermione practically teaches Transfiguration in light of a suitable teacher. But Harry’s most challenging task is not playing frenemies with Malfoy like it’s to win the House Cup, it’s grasping for confusing closure when a door is just opening.
This ‘8th year’ Hogwarts book takes place directly after Deathly Hallows and hits all the normal points of school: feasts, school life, Hagrid, Hogsmeade, Weasley chaos, Christmas, Rita Skeeter scandals, exams, the House Cup, and culminates in resolving an end of year mystery. Mostly cannon compliant minus the obvious. Relationship simmers, twists, and erupts. Book becomes quite explicit. Snape remains Snapishly Snape.
