“Hmm.” Oikawa makes an oddly ambiguous noise and Kuroo glances down to find the bottle has landed perfectly between two people. Beyond them, in the corner…

Bokuto’s hand was so big on his lower back, Akaashi knew that he would be able to manhandle and to throw him around just like nothing. The night appeared to be gorgeous, as Bokuto also had this insatiable look in his eyes, one that had so much energy to give. Akaashi was sure, he would end up in that man’s bed.
Or, Akaashi Keiji needs to feed from human energy in order to survive, and meets Bokuto Koutarou in a club, who he unfortunately ends up bonded with.

Old enough to know that his back is not weighed down by pitch black feathers and hollow bones, but by worry and shame and ten thousand other horrible things. It will never go away. One day, his back will break in two from all of it.
But for now, as Keiji rolls over in his bed, despite the fact that he should be getting up and studying, he allows himself to dream. He allows himself to close his eyes and see, clear as day, the beautiful jet-black wings that would carry him far, far away from here.

With each squelching step echoing off pastel-painted walls, Keiji's pace never once faltered as he rushed down the hallway. He was soaked, clothes drenched and curls dripping icy water onto hardwood floors as the rain continued to shower the city in a steady downpour.
God, he was so late.
The guilt in his chest tightened when his eyes caught the vacant cubbies and coat racks, the lack of squeals and the hushing pleas of parents only fueling his panic. Under layers of cold and clammy fabric, his heart pounded against his ribs like a jackhammer, blood rushing in his ears as worst-case scenarios drowned out every feeble attempt at self-reassurance. How could he have been so careless?
He was starting to get lightheaded, breathlessly sending one last silent prayer as he pushed open the door and—
The rain outside fell deaf to his ears by the sight of his daughter at the far end of the room. Even more so by the unfamiliar man at her side.

A fresh drink was put in front of Konoha as he recalled the day roughly 13 years ago when he, Bokuto, and the rest of their class graduated. As soon as they all had their diplomas, Bokuto pulled a giant bouquet out of his ass and announced to all the people around him that he was gonna sweep Akaashi off his feet and ask him out. Konoha wanted to tell him that Akaashi’s allergies would act up, but Bokuto was already rushing away.
“Konoha-san?”
He whirled around to see the man he was just thinking about in the flesh. He looked more beautiful than the last time they met up, but that was something he thought every time they were face to face. And much like every other time, his eyes briefly flickered down to his left ring finger.
Only this time instead of the gold band, Konoha saw a faint tan line where the ring had sat for the past 8 years.
AKA 31 year old Konoha always kinda thought of Akaashi-now technically also a Bokuto-as ‘the one who got away.’ After making a too-quick assumption and drunkenly kissing him when they run into each other, Konoha finds himself undergoing an unfortunate series of events that led him to getting in a fistfight with Bokuto. (Happy birthday akaashi!)
