Since they’ve been married for nearly a year and a half now, he’s gotten slightly better at admitting he’s wrong right away, instead of playing a few dozen rounds of the blame game before coming to the same conclusion anyway. “I was trying to figure out how to tell you without scaring the shit outta you.”
“How about- ‘Yo, I’m seeing my dead mom alive and in the fuckin’ flesh over here’. That woulda worked.” Mickey rolls his eyes, but Ian doesn’t take it personally. He knows by now how Mickey shows that he’s concerned- it’s passive aggressive, with an emphasis on aggressive- but it’s a very Mickey type of care and Ian’s learned to love it.
