Summary
Lady Aranessa spearheads the decision to check on matters at the Golden Orchard, and to find out what happened to stop the Royce caravans at Dvalmar Pass. Occtis Tachonis, Thaisha Lloy, the elf Vaelus, and her loyal bodyguard, Julien Davinos, accompany her on her journey. During one of their early nights on the road, Julien offers to teach Occtis some lessons in self-defense, even though he's still uncertain whether or not the boy can be trusted.
“That poor boy,” Aranessa murmured, uncertain if she was speaking of the memory of Julien, or of the very real young man in this house who was no longer quite alive, even if he was still walking around. “What his brother did to him… it was horrifying to witness.”
“He is dangerous,” Julien said, stiffening up and staring away from her. “Yet none of them will see it. Even you will not see it. My instincts are not wrong in this. He is a danger to us all.”

Summary
Bhaal’s Chosen wrapped her leg around Enver’s back, and let herself breathe out.
Their… celebration of the theft of the Crown of Karsus had been fierce and bloody. There had been a moment when she’d felt the temptation of the Dark Urge inside her, screaming at her to rip open his throat with her teeth. Instead, she’d bitten his shoulder, a nasty enough wound that she found herself regretting it, now that their ardor was cooling.
There were thoughts in her head that she could barely stand to look at. Feelings that Father would rage over if she held them for longer than the briefest of moments.
Nothing that she could speak out loud — Father would clamp her jaws shut if she tried.
All she could do was play their game together, and hope that Enver understood.

Summary
After the recent events at the Palazzo Davinos, Julien has a conversation with Occtis Tachonis.
“No one here is going to let you touch that boy, you have to realize that,” Vaelus said, leaning on the wall next to Julien.
He kept studying the night beyond the walls, on what horrors it might present to them all.
“Yourself included, I presume, Mistress Elf. But in this circumstance, my position is correct,” he said. “We need to err on the side of caution, not be so reckless. They’ll get themselves killed, enraptured by their own naive nobility.”

Summary
Kressa moved the body into her own chambers before examining it more closely.
It was astonishing that the body wasn’t dead, with the wound that it carried at the back of the neck. And when she pushed aside the eyelid, she could see the signs that a mindflayer tadpole existed within the brain.
Was this believed to be a failure, and discarded hastily by those who considered themselves more adept and able than Kressa?
It must be one of the first of what were being called ‘True Souls’. Perhaps the very first! How exciting. And how foolish, for it to be thrown away. Kressa was not allowed to examine the True Souls currently being processed — that was only for the Chosen — but this destroyed creature… it could be her way of learning more.
No light in the eyes, and yet something in this shell persisted.

Summary
Aviendha sat down, cross-legged, and stared at him expectantly.
“Um, do I… should I…” Rand stammered out.
“Have you changed your mind?” she asked, raising an eyebrow. “I can always practice control in other ways.”
“I’m not certain where to start,” he admitted. But Aviendha had given him a challenge and he wanted to please her.
Oh, Light, he wanted to please her.

voice in the back of my head by Butterfly

Summary
When the TV series started airing, I was reminded of how unsatisfying I found Mat's romantic future in the book series, so I decided that I would write something where I snuck him into the Randland polycule. This series splits off from TV canon during S1E6: the Flame of Tar Valon, so everything that happens into the show prior to that is canon here, but from this point forward, I will be repurposing book canon to suit the needs of the story.

Summary
“Of course I would,” Rand said, so firmly and so unhesitatingly that a little shudder wracked Mat’s body and made him let out a shaky breath. “I’m here, Mat. I’ll always be here.”
His face had inched closer to Mat’s as they were talking, and now it was so close. Their noses were nearly touching, only a breath separating them.
And Rand wasn’t pulling away. Wasn’t pushing Mat away. He was staying with him.

Summary
Set sometime during A Crown of Swords, exploring a potential AU where Perrin is instead sent to Illian to oversee the war against Sammael since Rand is growing increasingly distrustful of the generals under his command while he orders Berelain to deal with Alliandre. Berelain and Faile finally confront each other and a lot more than words are exchanged.
“I have never wanted your husband,” Berelain said, laughing a little, as if she could still not believe Faile had not worked out her intentions. “You bone-headed fool, none of it was ever about Perrin Aybara. It was only that…” She hesitated. “If… If I could not have you, I would not let him have you either."

Summary
Blood and ashes, what had they been talking about? Mat had to go to Rhuidean, or else he’d die? He didn’t want to go to the bloody Aiel Waste! And what was that about dying and living again and giving up light and saving the world? Son of battles? None of that sounded like anything he wanted anything to do with.
And that other thing. To marry—? Light! Mat Cauthon, married! And to some bloody noble? A man? He didn’t even like men! Well, at least he had some warning now. When he met this Lord of the bloody Morning, whoever he was, Mat was going to run as fast as he could in the opposite direction.
