Summary
Dean’s hands tighten on the heavy coat. It isn’t actually heavy, he doesn’t think. It’s not supposed to be. Just a light rain coat, made thin by years of wear. Only it feels like armor. It feels like skin. It feels like a body that Dean can’t bury and a ghost that he can’t burn.
“He wanted you to have this.”

Summary
Hans has seen plenty of taverns before. Plenty poor and plenty rich. But his eyes shine as if new this evening, and every candle is held in the center of his irises. Henry’s girl shines, turning a matching grin back to him. And, as is often with their relationship, Hans leads. Drags Henry into the mass of partners that have made a makeshift dancing floor closest to the minstrel. Sheds his uncertainty at the door and fully assumes the role of Lenka, a comely milk maid who loves to dance.
Or:
Henry takes his girl Lenka out on a date. They dance, they laugh, and they fuck.

Summary
It is not for King Wenceslas, Henry thinks quietly. But Sir Fülöp need not know where Henry’s allegiance truly lies. Or perhaps it is not unexpected of a peasant really that his fealty should be only to his liege-lord, and that wherever he may lead a page may follow. Henry knows Sir Hans’ heart though and trusts his lord to lead him on a fair and honorable path. And it is with that knowledge that Henry bows his head—part gratitude, part obedience.

Summary
“There.” Henry swallows through the thickness once again. In an attempt to bring about some levity, Henry teases, “You look pretty as any bride.”
Hans laughs wetly, something more of a spit than humor. He shakes his head and attempts to run his fingers through his locks but his hand pauses at the first touch of the chain. Bringing his own hand to his gaze, Hans’ mood fizzles, like barely there sparks bowing to a downpour. “Rather be your bride than her groom,” Hans clenches his hand into a fist and Henry watches the well-kept nails threaten to bleed the soft skin of his palm. As if Hans is on his knees seeking forgiveness for his confession, bleeding and paying his way into Heaven’s gates.

Summary
“Alastor’s comin’ over tonight,” Husk answers after they settle into their new positions. Ain’t like the Radio Demon is a real wheelin’ and dealin’ type when it comes to cards, but a game is a game. Even if Alastor always bets nothin’, and Husk always wins. It’s the easiest way to schmooze the radio jockey’s sensibilities, and if it helps keep Angel in this mood? Well, Husk is already winnin’ without even playin’ yet.
Husk loves playin' games, and he's great at it, too. But sometimes, even the King loses.

Summary
Husk is really good at hedging his bets, and he's even better at winning.
Or
Two years ago, Husk won Angel's soul in a poker game with Valentino. That was the easy part. The hard part is convincing himself that he's not falling in love.

Summary
Historians would tell you that the first temptation had been when, in serpentine form, the Snake of Eden had whispered into Eve’s darling ear about some stupid fruit. They, of course, would be wrong.
The first temptation had been when Crawly—not known as such at the time, since they hadn’t yet Fallen and therefore had no reason to rename themselves—had turned to Furfur and asked, “can I hitch a ride?”

I doesn’t even surprise Luke, really. He was expecting this conversation to be had sooner. Between the—admittedly very nice—hand jobs littered with deeds that Luke would never confess to in the light of day, there hadn’t been much talk at all.

Summary
And Dean is staring into Cas’ eyes, and Cas is staring back. And there is something so infinitely blue like a summer morning about them. Tomorrow, Dean thinks. It feels like looking at tomorrow, an endless stream of tomorrows. A future.
And he thinks it. He says it. I love you.
But then that didn’t happen at all.

Summary
“Well, of course!” Master Baggins spoke his observations in such a factual manner. “Handsome beards on the line of Durin indeed. Surely, I’d only look all the more foolish sitting next to you.”
Thorin blinked and felt heat rush up beneath his cheeks. Prayed to Mahal that his humble beard might survive the sudden praise. For again, he had always wished that Master Baggins might find him attractive in spite of his less than suitable beard, but here was Master Baggins ever the Unexpected. And here he was dolling out such lovely compliments.
“Not his beard,” Dwalin let out with a mirthful scoff. “It’s not any better than Kíli’s.”
“Oh, nonsense!” Master Baggins furrowed his brow. “You mean to tell me that you dwarves consider it unattractive to groom one’s beard so short?”

It wasn’t until the sea was put back into that dangerous creature that he had found his teeth. His song.
Let me die this way, Ed would say. He’d done it once before, hadn’t he? Taken that kiss and died right there on the beach in every painful way possible?

Summary
When they first met, Ed and Stede had just slotted into place. Two halves of a whole that were always meant to find one another. But then those pieces had been reshaped. Some edges more jaded and other edges more smoothed. And it had been difficult finding their place beside one another.
Ed liked to think it was for the better, really. Stede deserved a whole man, not a half one. And now they were two wholes that just belonged together. Like the mismatched tea cups set out in front of him.
Can be read as a stand alone!
