Which isn’t the problem; Mike can take damage like a champ and Will’s an expert at healing.
The problem is that they’re both madly in love with each other and too cowardly to admit it.

“Come back here!” Mike pleads.
“I can’t,” Will replies weakly, and he’s sure his voice isn’t strong enough to travel. Mike inches closer, like those few centimeters would make the difference.
“I’m jumping in then!” And then he’s wringing the shoes off, hastily kicking them behind his back.
On the eve of the final battle, Will is drawn to the lake by an unknown force. He tries to cut everything short and free Hawkins on his own, but Mike just won’t let him go.

Summary
“You look amazing. God, you look so hot like this, trying to hide how good you feel,”
Will smiled, letting the words wash over him as he felt the heat begin to build in his abdomen.
“But your hair is too perfect. You need someone to mess it up, it doesn’t work. Not when you’re… like this,” Mike swallowed, his gaze locking on Will’s, steady and pleading. Will released his hold on him with no obvious movement of his hand, and to his surprise Mike seemed not to notice, staying put with his back against the wall. Something about that had Will letting out another embarrassing groan as Mike continued.
“Shouldn’t have to please yourself. You should let me,” Mike was saying, “I could make you feel so good. You could have my fist, or my mouth, or my thighs, or…” Mike trailed off, smirking as his meaning dawned on Will. Will had never been particularly strong when it came to Mike._________________
Or, Mike and Will are left behind at the WSQK during a supply run. They find ways to pass the time.

“Mike.” Will shifts his attention to the boy they’re talking about who’s talking to the others with his hands in his pockets. “he’s always like tilting his head like a stupid dog. Sort of like a Border Collie.” He can see the resemblance of Mike being a dog. His clinginess around Will always wanting to have skin to skin contact with him at all times
Huh.
“Yeah..” Will trails off, eyes pinched together in curiousity. “Like a dumb dog.”

Or: Times that Will thought Mike was similar to a dog that led to him first timing being dominant
