Nanami blinks. Once. And Gojo is looking at him now. Those bright blue eyes, nothing like the sky, or the ocean, or diamonds. Nothing like anything he has ever seen but their own. Absurdly infinite— and yet contained. Absurdly powerful. Absurdly captivating. Absurdly annoying.
“It was necessary,” he speaks again then, quiet, matter-of-fact— like a real sorcerer would, like Nanami once did. “The balance is preserved. The world is safe. All according to plan,” Nanami hears the dry edge perfectly, and hates it instantly.
He lets the information settle. He remains quiet. Silent. A pause. One not long enough. “I am sorry for your loss. But you should leave, Gojo-san,” he makes sure to emphasize it— his name, the suffix behind it. He is cordially sorry, not personally. He is personally annoyed. And Gojo should certainly leave.

For a second, just a second, she thought she heard Mai’s voice, sharp and annoyed, telling her she was tracking blood everywhere. The thought hit like a misstep on a staircase. Her chest tightened. She swallowed and pressed her tongue to the roof of her mouth until the feeling passed.
Somewhere down the hall, footsteps echoed that were familiar. She recognized the rhythm without thinking about it, the way someone might recognize the weight of someone’s cursed energy even when they were trying to keep it light. They slowed as they passed her door.
The door slid open.
“Y’know,” Gojo said, voice light, “there are way more subtle ways to announce you’ve wiped out a whole dang clan.”
Maki didn’t look away from the wall. She could practically hear the smile in the idiot’s voice.
“That being said, you accidentally tracked blood into the building… so,”
Oh.
There was a pause behind her. The door slid shut.
After the fall of the Zen’in clan, Maki returns to Jujutsu High for a slow evening with her teachers.

Gojo stood facing away from the door, looking out the window as if the darklit moon held the answers he sought. He didn’t look back at Nanami. In fact, he didn't react to his entrance at all.
“Is this where you've been hiding from Yaga?” Nanami asked lightly. He might as well been asking the air because the man in front of him didn’t so much as twitch.
Uneasiness unfurled within him at the lack of response. He hadn’t seen this version of him since Geto first defected but by then their relationship hadn't been the closest. It was a painful reminder to him that Geto had taken more than just himself that day. He'd also taken half of Gojo's heart.
Geto's plan failed but Nanami finds the pieces of Gojo in the aftermath.

Kiyoomi did not like children.
This was something that, upon first meeting him, most people would be able to guess. His blunt words were met with tears, his scoldings were ignored, and just as he disliked children, children, it seemed, equally disliked him.
Put simply, he was in no way built to be a father, a fact he certainly didn’t mourn over. At least, that was the case until Miya Atsumu had wormed his way into Kiyoomi’s life.
Because the problem was, Atsumu was absolutely built to be a father.
