“Do you ever wish you were more athletic?”
Ilya looks up, blinking once as he processes what the fuck was just said to him, and he isn’t sure which is throwing him harder, the question or the currently-recording phone that’s being pointed at him in a way that he imagines is supposed to be subtle but couldn’t be more obvious if Shane was putting active effort into it.
Both are warring with how poorly Shane is hiding his delight with himself under a very bad performance of sincerity.

After a major hack exposing athletes for many (stupid/dumb/terrible) things, Ilya Rozanov's messages are laid bare for the world to see. He promised Shane he would delete anything incriminating, but they didn't define what that meant.
For Ilya, who doesn't care if the world knows Shane Hollander is his friend (after all isn't that what the plan is for), it means he deleted every sext and mushy I-love-you texts between them.
So now the world is figuring out that the sport's biggest rivals are friends...
