He’s spent years drifting, getting into bar fights, working odd jobs, doing anything but committing to a path. He doesn’t believe in himself. The idea that he could just do something for himself has never crossed his mind. Meeting Uhura & McCoy changes everything. They’re not just running from something; they’re running toward something. Maybe Kirk needs something to run towards too.

Summary
As the five year mission is coming to an end, Kirk and Spock must decide what to do next. Kirk thinks it would be fun to live in one of the Painted Ladies, a set of brightly colored Victorian houses in San Francisco, and asks Spock to join him. Instead of going to Gol or the VSA, Spock agrees to join Kirk.
This idea started out as a joke, but it turned more into an exploration of Kirk and Spock adjusting to life on Earth after living in space for so long. I'm cheating a little bit because Spock has some of his post Gol/V'ger character development, but I tried to keep it as timeline accurate as I could.

This is kind of a mix between TOS and AOS. The setting and timeline are obviously AOS because this is an Academy AU, but the characters are written to be their TOS versions. Tags will be updated as the story progresses!

Spock gets kidnapped by Romulans, only for him to learn that he is their long-lost prince. But why would the Vulcans have lied to him about his origins? Danger, family drama, and extreme pining ensue.
