Jet ends up in a bit of trouble, and Charn lends him a helping hand.
'Jet had intended to ignore the assholes. He had intended on walking back over to where Charn was currently painting, intended on saying something oddly threatening while asking if he’d remembered anything about the previous night, intended on then drinking a crap ton of water and heading back to his master’s place.
But now he couldn’t.
It wasn’t even that he wanted to go and confront those assholes; he had to. The match had been struck, and now the need burned something horrid.'

'It was Charn who had remained beside Jet. Every so often, he’d run his hands down to check the pulse, which continued to beat strongly in Jet’s wrist. A constant reminder that there was still light in the newfound darkness. He’d shift the ice around, carefully checking to make sure that the condensation hadn’t dampened Jet’s shirt each time. He’d run the back of his hand every so lightly up against Jet’s neck and cheeks, which had regained much of their color, as if checking for fever.'

Summary
