Prince Will Byers is a Cleric of Selûne who heals the wounded and stubbornly ignores the multiple assassination attempts against him. To buy time and uncover a political conspiracy, his mother betroths him to a foreign prince. To keep him alive in the meantime, she hires a fiercely disciplined Paladin of Devotion to serve as his heavily armored shadow.
Mike follows the rules. His orders are to safely deliver Will to Casmire for the arranged marriage. It is supposed to be a straightforward escort mission. Henry’s smirk deepened, still trained on Will. He was waiting expectantly.
Will’s breaths hardened, eyes practically catching on fire in rage.
A fresh wad of fear slapped Mike in the face. The sight of Henry seeing Will, taunting him, was too much. “Will, I can’t-”
I can’t lose you. I can’t do this.
Will’s gaze jerked from where he was locked with Henry, and he found Mike’s eyes. The battle was in full force around him, yet Will was the only thing in the world. The last few members of their own crew were rushing past them, and they were running out of time.
Will was so full of unadulterated anger, yet his eyes were bountiful with love as he pressed a short kiss to Mike’s lips.
“You can."
Or: With Henry's secrets revealed, Mike's loyalty is steadfast to Will. They've escaped the king's grasp for now, though their torments have just begun with conflict rising between kingdoms. The paladin and the cleric must trust in their allies, their friends, and in their love to make it out alive.

Will bites his lip and nods, looking down at his shoes again so Richie won't see how hard he's holding back a giddy smile.
Everybody in the party knows everything about him. Maybe it wouldn't be the worst thing to keep a secret from Mike for a little while.
It's kind of exciting. Sneaking in a boy Mike hates.
Will shakes his head, trying to clear Mike from it for the night. Only when he looks back up at Richie, Richie has this conspiratorial smile on his face, like maybe Will isn't the only one eager to piss off Mike Wheeler.
