It was supposed to be a scouting “mission”. Investigate the rumours about the black-blooded monsters, observe them for a bit when found, and assess how much of a threat they were. Simple in theory! Just a check, to calm down the people of Hyrule and ease the Zeldas’ minds, all while fulfilling the role he had accepted to take as the hero of this land. In hindsight, it should have been obvious this would happen, because really, when were things ever straightforward for Link? Never, the answer was never.

Summary
Link thought he had the rest of his life set. Malladus had been defeated, there were no more evil chancellors waiting to steal his sister’s body, and with the Spirit Tracks completed new settlements were surfacing around New Hyrule.
Then some weird, stronger monsters started appearing out of nowhere and unfortunately he was the only one capable of dealing with them, throwing a wrench on his schedule. As if that wasn’t enough, a mysterious portal abducts him and a bunch of heroes for who knows what, sending them on a journey across time and space.
All he wanted was to drive his train, is that too much to ask?

It is hard being the oldest son and heir to an idiot, but Damian has Young Justice behind him and his future ahead of him. He'll cope.
