The only time Izuku Midoriya had been noticed in middle school was when someone wanted to mock him. Weak, quirkless, and constantly dreaming of being a hero—his hopes only ever earned him scorn and cruelty. Floating through the halls, unseen and unheard, he wondered if this was better or worse. No more punches. No more cruel words. But also… no more being seen at all.
A boy, dark-haired, expressionless, eyes that seemed far too deep for someone so young. He was quiet, kept to himself, and moved with a subtle but unsettling air of detachment, as if the world around him held little. Izuku might have ignored him, just another face in the blur, but something was different this time.

The room froze.
Mob’s hand stopped midair. His breath caught in his chest. He hadn’t meant to say that.
He wasn’t even thinking about it — it had just… slipped out.
Slowly, Mob looked up, heart pounding.
Reigen had paused, his eyes were wide. Shocked. Then, they softened.
“…I’m sorry,” Mob whispered, voice shaking.
Reigen cut him off by jumping down from the stool with a loud thud, striding over in three quick steps, and pulling Mob into the tightest, warmest hug he had ever felt.
“You don’t have to apologize,” Reigen said, voice low and steady. He ruffled Mob’s hair — gentle, grounding. “You can call me that anytime you want.”
