Summary
What if Danny never learned the early lessons he was supposed to? What if he actually accepted Vlad's offer?
In this retelling of Danny Phantom, the canon beats of ghost fighting, school life, and family balancing exist in a new context: Friends and family become obstacles, powers turn into tools, and Vlad carefully reshapes Danny’s worldview. Familiar faces clash with new foes, an ancient predator sets its sights on a fresh hunt, and Danny's path is shaded just a few degrees darker.
This story contains darker themes than the original Danny Phantom but attempts to remain PG-13 and roughly in-theme with the canon vibe. However, it does take itself more seriously than the show. To that end, some of the slapstick humor and comic relief has been changed and toned down in favor of a more serious tone.
Non-explicit, limited swearing, somewhat above canon-typical violence. I am used to writing for a PG-16 or 18+ audience. I may write more emotionally mature themes on occasion.
Original characters present, but focus remains on canon characters and relationships. OCs mostly serve as worldbuilding or part of the rogues gallery.

Summary
Valerie first meets Phantom under different circumstances– she's already the Red Huntress, and she has no blame to put on him for her current circumstances. She's still working for Vlad Masters, though, and he wants Phantom captured. After almost capturing him, she quickly realizes that he's not like the other ghosts. But she quickly loses any chance of gaining his trust, as she has to appease her boss. She quickly becomes stuck between two circumstances: risking her job to stand up to Vlad, or capturing Phantom. She doesn't like either of those options.

Jasmine Fenton loved her little brother. She considered “Danny's big sister” a fundamental part of her identity. In fact, she held this fragment of herself so close to her heart that it was impossible that she could exist as herself, Jazz Fenton, without the part of her that was her brother's sister. She wasn't dependent on him to define her, of course, and she understood herself as an individual outside of her role as an older sister. It didn't matter, though. None of her dissection of her and Danny's dynamic changed the fact that she was losing Danny, that somehow, something had changed, and since then she had been desperately reaching across a crack in her very world for a brother who didn't care if she let them both fall off the edge. She knew logically that that's how it was, how it was supposed to be. Danny was a teenager. She was nearly graduated, and ready to leave Amity Park and start a new life. It still didn't make her feel any less like the further away Danny drifted, the more she lost herself with him.

Summary
After a particularly rough fight with Vlad, in which Danny somehow succeeds in winning, Vlad Masters devises a plan to blackmail Danny into living with him by using his obsession against him. Convincing Maddie and Jack that they must be extra persistent in their capture of Danny Phantom while Persuading Jack to let Danny spend the week to “Bond with his Godfather”. During the week of extra threatening to Phantom, Vlad threatens to expose Danny’s Secret Identity if he doesn’t train under him. Even going as far to force him to extend that time period with Vlad over the course of the time longer and longer. Since Jack and Maddie are too busy with their Ghost Careers to notice Danny gone and Jazz isn’t able to actually explain the real reason why Danny is staying at Vlad’s for so long, there’s nothing truly stopping Danny from spending all his time with Vlad, much to his displeasure.
