I (M 25) recently discovered that my roommate (M 26) is a vampire.
We met through a mutual friend when I first started working, fresh out of nursing school and money was very tight. I needed a place to stay and this was a really good deal in terms of splitting the rent (60/40 because he has the bigger room with balcony) and in an area that’s walking distance from where I work. My roommate is very neat and tidy and cooks really well, and most importantly he loves my cat too. Over the past year of living together we’ve been become very good friends!
However after discovering he was a vampire, he told me I should move out which is weird to me because him being a vampire changes nothing, I don’t feel threatened by him; we’ve been living together for this long and he’s never approached me in a way I thought was at all aggressive, he’s literally the nicest person ever? Incredibly sweet considerate and I really like him?
ALSO I CAN’T AFFORD TO MOVE OUT I’M A NURSE MY SALARY IS A JOKE!!
So I told him I’m not leaving and now he’s avoiding me.

Just before he picks up his book, he sees something white stuck between two open-faced petals and picks at it, revealing a folded piece of crisp paper. Semi-cursive handwriting is inked into it and reads:
“It’s customary to give your opponents their flowers to establish a fairground. Buttercups represent childishness. Take this as a sign to start acting your age. - Minho”
Seungmin folds the note back up and slips it back into the bouquet. The sigh that follows is poignant in how it lingers long after. The first time Seungmin gets given flowers by a boy, and it’s an insult. Two can play that game.Somehow, getting stuck in a time loop that replays Seungmin's dreaded night in the throes of a fraternity party isn't the worst thing about his situation. Instead, it's that he has to share the dilemma with the man that almost crashed into his car a month ago and has yet to let it go.

“Join Jisung and I tonight,” Seungmin murmurs, in an uncharacteristically soft tone, as if he were cradling Minho close to his chest as he does Felix or Jisung, speaking to him as if he were someone precious and not just the king’s burden to bear. It hurts when Minho knows it’s just his imagination. “We can talk more then.”
“Are you sure?” Minho asks, clenching his fist behind his back tight enough to feel his nails dig into his palm.
Seungmin clenches and unclenches his fists at his sides. “Why wouldn't I be?”
I am your cross to bear. I am a nail in your coffin. I am the thorn in your side. I am. I am. I am.
“Nevermind,” Minho shakes his head and turns to Seungmin, bowing once more. He thinks his nails have broken skin. “See you tonight, then.”
