Summary
[From: K]
Start looks good from up here. Don't suck. Or you’re sleeping on the couch. Love you xThe air in Scott’s lungs, which had been trapped there since he woke up that morning, finally released. He could picture it perfectly: Kip sitting anonymously in Section 106, flanked by Elena and his dad, the three of them acting as a buffer against the world. They were the only family Scott had, the perfect camouflage for the one person Scott couldn't live without. Kip would be white-knuckling the armrests, pretending to be just another stressed fan, unable to tell a soul that his heart was currently lacing up skates in the basement.
Or:
The one where Scott and Kip met in St. Thomas Preparatory School back in 2004 and fell in love with each other. -

Summary
Kip leaned against the counter, projecting an air of casual competence he absolutely did not feel. His heart was doing a stupid little tap dance against his ribs, which was ridiculous. He served handsome men all the time. Halifax was full of bearded fishermen and lumbersexual hipsters.
But this was different. This guy looked like he was the forest.
"Morning," Kip said, aiming for breezy and landing somewhere near slightly breathless. "What can I get started for you? We have a Guatemalan roast today that has notes of chocolate and existential dread, if that's your vibe."
Or:
The one where Scott is a grumpy junior hockey coach and Kip is a charmingly awkward rugby player. Both come with their own baggage. Both are miserable in their own way.
Oh, and they are in Canada. -

Summary
Scott slides his hand under the table. He pulls his phone from his pocket, shielding the screen with his palm. It’s risky. It’s stupid. There are cameras everywhere, lenses long enough to capture the pores on his nose, let alone the screen of his phone.
He unlocks it anyway.
The photo loads instantly.
The breath leaves Scott’s lungs in a silent rush. The background is familiar—it’s his own living room in Manhattan. The orange of his favorite Admirals hoodie is unmistakable, swallowing the frame. But the hoodie is pulled up, bunching around a pale, taut stomach.
Or:
A smutty Scott x Kip songfic no one asked for. -

Summary
It was 3:00 AM. Kip was exhausted, his body hummed with a pleasant, bone-deep ache from the last few hours, and he was absolutely starving.
He padded over to the refrigerator, a stainless steel monolith that looked complicated enough to launch a shuttle into orbit. He tugged it open.
"Jesus, Hunter," Kip muttered, bathed in the sterile LED glow.
It was a nutritional wasteland. Rows of bottled water (fancy brand). A carton of egg whites. Spinach. Unsweetened almond milk. A lonely container of blueberries sitting next to a bunch of perfectly yellow bananas. This fridge was designed for peak athletic performance, not for a human being who had just burned a significant amount of calories in bed.
Or:
5 times Kip took ownership of Scott’s kitchen + 1 time it belonged to both of them. -

Summary
The air up here was disrespectful.
That was the first thing Kip Grady noticed when he stepped out of his dad’s beat-up Honda Civic. The air in Brooklyn had texture. It had weight. It smelled like hot asphalt, exhaust fumes, and the specific, comforting garbage funk of a Tuesday afternoon. You knew where you stood with Brooklyn air.
The air here—four hours north, deep in the "Upstate" wilderness of the university—was suspicious. It was too thin. It smelled like pine needles and aggression. It smelled like people who hiked for fun.
Or:
Eighteen-year-old Kip is figuring out student life and developing a massive crush on his History professor, Scott Hunter - whose books may or may not have inspired Kip to major in History.

Summary
Eddie’s eyes were blank, glossed over. His breathing was slow, calculated as if he were trying to minimize the movements of his chest, ensuring that his body barely moved with every rise and fall.
“Eddie,” Buck’s voice broke, “Please don’t tell me that’s what I think it is.”
“I wish I could,” Eddie whispered, his face tight. “I just stepped on a landmine.”
