All things considered, it’s relatively benign, he thinks.
And so he turns his attention away from the book, continues to record statements, and tries to pretend like he doesn’t enjoy the soft feeling of fingers through his hair or against the knuckles of his hands or across the sensitive skin of his palms.
It’s almost nice.
Until it isn’t.

Tim opens his mouth to reply, but only manages it on the second try.
“Yeah,” he says. “Hands on, you know. Let you get to see the thing for yourself.”
“And you would be tying up…” Jon says, trailing off into a silence that begs to be filled, answered.
“You,” Tim confirms, and he thinks he sees Jon shiver as he says it. “I couldn’t-- can’t tie myself up, after all.”
“But I can’t-- I don’t do that,” Jon says, as if remembering himself. He almost sounds disappointed. “I don’t-- I don’t enjoy sex. I’m very certain of that much, I made sure. I can’t--”
“Who said anything about sex?”

Tonight, Martin is looking at porn. Jon knows that Martin is looking at porn. He doesn't know how he knows, but he does. He's fairly certain he isn't Beholding the knowledge. Martin's face is perfectly neutral, and his posture is relaxed. Even so, Jon just...senses it, somehow, the way an animal senses an approaching storm through minute variations in scent and barometric pressure. A change in the atmosphere is taking place, and that change is informing Jon’s subconscious mind that Martin is currently sexually aroused.
And then Jon decides, to hell with it. "So, uh, about the sex thing."
Martin blanches like Jon just accused him of murder. And slaps his phone screen-down onto his lap. Ah. That wasn't quite the reaction Jon was hoping for.

It truly an idiotic move on the mortals’ part.
The star system hadn’t figured out space travel quite yet, but they looked to have quite the concert culture so the Mechanisms decided to stop by anyway. And, well, the planet’s residents got freaked out, one thing led to another, Tim revived in front of the horrified mortals, so said mortals declared war on the crew of the Aurora. The ship herself was not technically included in this, but that was just due to the planet’s residents knowing almost less about sentient starships than non-sentient ones. She joined in regardless.
The Mechanisms land on a planet where the mortals instantly declare war on them, this ends up becoming a fun date night for the immortals! The same cannot be said for the mortals.
