Meeting Jason Todd was not that.
Blessings are never inevitable. Srappy, scrawny Jason, whose willpower made him into something dangerous even when he had very little practical power with which to protect himself, is everything Tony ever imagined a blessing to be.

Nie Huaisang resisted the urge to kick him – Lan Wangji wouldn’t stick his foot in somewhere it wasn’t wanted if he didn’t actually have relevant information – but even Lan Qiren frowned at him.
“You seem remarkably certain about that, Wangji,” he said. “But why not? While it’s not appropriate for every circumstance, it’s an extremely powerful song. I would think that it would be at least worth an attempt.”
Lan Wangji looked distinctly shame-faced, though perhaps only someone who knew him very well would recognize that particular flavor of it.
“I see,” Lan Qiren said. “And what exactly has your brother done that he doesn’t want me to know about?”

To which, the Cube sparked one more --a much larger spike to the previous.
“What’s that?”
Before Fury could so much as tense, eye on the Cube, it sparked again --for the ground and walls to visibly shake.
It continued to spark some more, bigger each time - to which a beam of energy was suddenly brought forth and -an explosion...Once visual on the platform returned, it was only for Fury to tense further.
Confusion and concern ran through him as he took in the several unknowns now of the platform, each more confusing than the last. In the centre was a dark haired kid - ten or eleven if Fury had to guess - complete with a bloodied sword in his hand. Yet, they were not the oddest thing. That was reserved to the brightest tropical bird he had ever seen, complete with a wide colourful wing span and a long back tail rivalling that of a peacock’s, which flew in suspension above the boy.(Note, 11th July 2021: Story is NOT Abandoned (real life - which includes Post grad thesis - is slowing down my writing) Thank you for all the kudos and comments ppl have left so far)

“Yeah! That’s right! Why are we here?” Wen Chao immediately chimed, very obviously taking his cues from his elder brother – much to the latter’s irritation, judging by his immediate scowl.
Lan Qiren knew that he needed to pick his next words very carefully. With recalcitrant students, a teacher only had a few opportunities to really connect with them. If he allowed them to dismiss him or categorize him as an enemy at this early stage, it would be an incredibly uphill battle to gain enough respect in order to teach them anything, and in this case, given the strength of their background and the fact that this little teaching session was both likely to be short and definitely completely unauthorized, it would quite possibly make it completely impossible to ever get through to them.
“You are here,” Lan Qiren said solemnly, each word slow and thoughtful, “because your father is an ass.”

Nie Huaisang knows that things in this world are rarely story-shaped. That they're more akin to ink spilled on parchment - Messy and unpredictable and rather tragic. But out of all the threads he's woven throughout damn near a decade, he had not expected the most straightforward of his ploys to go this awry.
He had not expected Wei-Xiong to end up here in Qinghe, half-drunk and too thin with no Lan Wangji in sight. Because it turns out that on his way to becoming the Chief Cultivator, the great Hanguang-Jun had left Wei-Xiong on the side of the road to walk alone in a world that most probably still wants him dead.
