Summary
Her eyes dart back to the broomstick.
No. Absolutely not.
There have been moments in Glinda’s life, small, fleeting things, that she could try and compare to this—moments that she can barely recall in any detail, that seem so irrelevant now. Moments of selfishness, of encompassing stubbornness that filter through her careful performance of perfection like smoke from a wildfire, twisting between leaves. This time, she feels much closer to the fire than the smoke; vague, hazy, and burning.
—or, in an Oz where the Wizard's power must be diminished from his inner ranks, Elphaba battles with what it means to foster a rebellion whilst presenting herself as everything she despises. Glinda is also there and is incredibly politically aware.

Summary
“You have to go, don’t you.” It isn’t a question. It’s whispered so quietly Elphaba is surprised she can hear it over the yelling of the guards, shouting orders and banging at the door. Somehow it’s the loudest thing in the room.
“I do,” her voice too is little more than a whisper, a fragment. She doesn’t yet know how she’s going to leave, but she’ll find a way. If there’s one thing Elphaba Thropp can do it’s look after herself, “And you’re not going to come with me, are you.”

Summary
History would forget all these things. They would forget that she too, was a child, the weight of an adult’s fears pressed onto her growing spine. They would forget that she never held anything but that wooden sword, that she had failed at being a knight before she ever became one. No one would remember a frightened, lonely child, that wasn’t the story they wanted.

Summary
Now, Arthur had grown up draped in finery. Given gold and silver and all manner of rare, shiny things meant to show his status. Arthur knew gold. He had seen it being poured by a blacksmith, gently bent into shape by a jeweller, and seen it descending onto his own head as a heavy promise. Arthur knew gold.
Merlin’s eyes weren’t gold.

Or Merlin finally unlocks his full power - he's pretty much magic incarnate after all
