Summary
Nancy hesitantly picked up the rotary phone from her bedside table, her hands still trembling as she resigned herself to dialing the ever-familiar number. She bit her lip, trying not to think too hard about what she was doing.
After a few rings, a groggy voice rang through the speakers. "Robin Buckley speaking, and you better have a good reason for calling at two in the morning, because I swear to God if this is a telemarketer --"
"Robin," Nancy cut her off, trying to stabilize her own voice before she continued. "Not a telemarketer. It's -- it's me."
"Nance?" Robin's voice grew soft with worry, and Nancy felt her shoulders relax. She tried to ignore the warmth that rose to her cheeks. "What's the matter? Are you okay?"
"I'm home," she replied, her voice still quiet, a whisper underneath the screams of stop inside her own head. "Can you come over?"

“I need air,” Robin announces. “Yeah, I’ve just been inhaling your guys’ chip breaths and Steve’s hair spray and I need to like breathe normal, human air,”
“We’ll find some headphones,” Dustin says helpfully as Steve takes Robin by the hand and leads her up the stairs. She hadn’t expected “going to get air” as a group activity, but now, Steve and her are making a swift exit and Nancy is just staring at the two, mouth gaped slightly, eyes big and wide.
Robin forces herself to look away, to look forward, and allow herself to be led out and ignore the swirling in her chest.
OR: Robin Buckley is experiencing hallucinations from Vecna. Guess, there's no perfect time to come out to the girl of your dreams, Nancy, and have a heart to heart with your best friend, Steve.

Summary
It should just be the urgency of their situation that makes Nancy tense. She should be worried about Hawkins, about her family, about her friends. She should be spending all of her time researching and following trails, just like she always does. Instead she's tense over a girl, and suddenly everything she has done her entire life feels wrong.
