When Link died, he died content.
He had taken down the Calamity, saved the princess, and set about a time of peace and prosperity for the entirety of Hyrule. It was only a shame he couldn't stay to enjoy it with Zelda, passing away at the very end, but perhaps that was just how it was meant to be.
