Soap’s bones felt like a god had snapped his fingers and replaced his marrow with ice.It was the oh-shit kind of moment. Soap lunged, tore at Parra, heaved, pushed the man forward and down the stairs and away from the opening of the door. One moment they were almost even up, the next Soap shoved his body between him and the door. Everything turned as bright as the middle of the fucking sun.

At the nights when he could not sleep, when lying in bed burned more strength than being awake Ghost got up, got dressed and moved to Price’s office. More often than not the light was still on, Price pouring over two files. Sometimes Laswell would pass through, or call- “Is there a lead on them?”
“Not yet, still on it.” Ghost would see Price’s shoulders sink a bit more at every negative. But the two files were never closed, never left the desk of their captain.The team looses contact to one of their own- but just as wounds start to heal there is a discovery:
Ghost kept an even breath, so much as a forceful exhalation could give you away to a careful listener.
Luckily, the men in front of them were busy keeping the prisoner off balance. Waking them up in the middle of the night- wear down the mental defences. He waited for them to come into view. Waited for the prisoner, stumbling along with hands tied and feet shackled . And felt his stomach plumet. That narrow jaw, the eyes, now deep set in the gaunt face.

“Johnny?” Ghost pulled off his gloves, kneeling at the bedside. He could feel the heat on his palm before he even made contact with the clammy skin. His fingers found the pulse point, and his own heart beat faster. It was weak. It was too damn weak. “Fuck!”
Within seconds he had scooped Soap into his arms and started practically running down the barracks halls. People jumped out of the way, faces shocked at the unusual sight. Murmurs drowned in the sound of blood rushing in his ears.
“Hang in there, Johnny. Stay with me now.”
Soap gets poisoned. Ghost takes it as well as you'd expect.

“Johnny, fuckin’ hell.” Skull-framed eyes widened. A hand shot out to grab Soap’s shoulder, turning him to get a better look at whatever had caught Ghost's attention. “Why didn’t you say anything?”
Soap looked down at himself to get an idea what the lieutenant was freaking out about.
Ah. Blood. Quite an impressive amount, actually.
Soap gets a little bit shot. It's fine, but the shock rattles their small group, making them even closer than before. Also, there's a game of Cluedo, for some reason.

Summary
His head hits wood. Hard. He tries to sit up but then the sun that was there just a second ago is gone, leaving him in the darkness. Panic rises in him. He starts pushing and banging on the lid. It doesn’t falter. Voices above him were complaining, something about hurrying up.
The sound of dirt hitting the lid causes ice to fill his whole body and it just doesn’t stop as the top gets heavier, and heavier. It gets to the point where the top won’t budge. The voices were long gone. His heart thumps out of his chest as his demise settles onto him at an alarming pace.
“First things first: don’t panic. Panicking will decrease the amount of oxygen you have due to how quickly you’re breathing. Calm yourself.”
Ghost’s voice suddenly says in his head. He closes his eyes, despite the fact that it’s just as dark when they’re open. The panic seeps away.

This isn't his knife, it's Ghost's. Molded grip, modified tanto blade, S.R. carved deep into the butt.
If he makes it out of this alive, he's going to have to beg forgiveness for somehow mixing Ghost's knives in with his own gear. Possibly he's gonna have to go to confession because this feels like one of the bad sins.
Or, a mission goes awry, and now Soap's got to deal with hostile terrain, a hit squad of cartel sicarios on his tail and Ghost's voice on his busted radio. Honestly, it's the last thing that probably fucks him up the most.

Soap had just managed to stop himself from shrinking back. His mouth dried and throat closed at the sudden feeling of shame. Ghost was right, as was every other person in his life that told him he talked way too much. He knew he was annoying, and he knew Ghost was already irritated. He should have kept his mouth shut.
