Because Isha is dead.
And there’s nothing she can do about it.
Her breath grows laboured, her fingers shaking as if she just went off Shimmer when she ruffles around her coat for the smokes, she knows she still had some, damnit, but she only finds the lighter, that last gift Silco ever gave her from Finn’s corpse and–
The lighter clatters to the ground and Sevika can't help but follow.
Isha is dead.
And Sevika screams.

Torgrim looks on as Ear relaxes and lets Askeladd get closer, how he lets Bjorn near too. Atli leans on Torgrim’s back and that is natural - they are a family of many years, they have got through so much together - but this, he can't understand at all.

Cesarz Kouki, Yu-hon, znany był zarówno wśród wrogów, jak i przyjaciół jako człowiek surowy, bezwzględny i zdeterminowany. Nic nie było go w stanie zatrzymać w drodze do celu. Pod jego rządami Kouka rozkwitła i umocniła swoją pozycję wśród innych narodów. Na wieść o nim armie uciekały w popłochu, a dyplomaci drżeli jak liście na wietrze. Nawet dzieci wiedziały o jego potędze i nikt nie śmiał się sprzeciwić jego woli.
Nic więc dziwnego, że żaden głupiec nie zgodził się przyjąć zlecenia na porwanie jego bratanicy.
Nikt prócz otoczonej złą sławą Grzmiącej Bestii z klanu Wiatru znaczy się.

Oh my god. It might have something to do with me reading this at 3 AM but I was actively suppressing the laughter as I read through Before, it's just so hilarious! Real vibes of the ending of After, with Kaitlyn and Dylan just giggling away. Almost woke up my partner because of it, and let me tell you, he does not take being woken up well so I risked a lot. But still!
When reading the summary I was half convinced it would have been about Ryan's sister in particural but this version is so much better. Just Maya-the-matchmaking-demon, who made my hear drop when little line of her backstory dropped.
Also I've been so starved for the counselor fics actually doing the counseling bit, this is such a gem for that too!
Long story short, I really need to keep it bookmarked and saved. Cheers to the dear author, you made me feel a lot of things for 3 AM! Thanks for writing! -
