Left to her own devices for over a week, Katara discovers not only a well-hidden lake at the edge of the Upper Ring of Ba Sing Se, but also something far more difficult to deal with: unyielding loneliness. This was the first time she had been truly alone...well, ever. Growing up, she had her parents, the tribe, her brother, and more recently, her friends. But now? She was forced to deal with her unrelenting thoughts without the distraction of her closest family. She learns a bit about herself over that week, and a bit about someone else.

From the spirits' interfering in their lives to the influence of mortal lives on one another, this story asks, "What if?" What if the world ended tomorrow? What if they could stop it? What if their world suddenly became different? What if she caused him to change? What does it mean to do the right thing?

Summary
After the war, Zuko was a very busy man. When Iroh decided to act as regent to give Zuko more time to grow and shape himself, he traveled the world, attempting to better it and learn about the cultures he'd be interacting with as Fire Lord. The only catch was that this stint was set for seven years. The first four didn't go so well, but somewhere along the way, a familiar face joined him. She changed his experience for the better. Or perhaps forever.
This tale picks up somewhere in the agrarian zone, just as Zuko is moving into a new temporary home.
