After all, Lantern Rite had always been a difficult time for Xiao, so it had been common for Venti to drop by when he was awake, the two of them traversing the lands of Liyue together.

He’s hurting again.
When was the last time he had visited Xiao? A week ? For someone who has watched nations rise and erode into dust, time has always been a slippery thing. Years fold into one another as night and days blur. All he knows is that it's been too long. Yet the thought of seeing Xiao excites and unsettles him at the same time. Venti swiftly makes his way to the source.

“Xiao…” Venti swallows, so taken aback he’s left speechless. “You…”
“I think… I would like to rest, too.” And as Venti softens, lips parting in surprise, Xiao continues on, “But only… only if it’s with you. I want it.”

“Ah, but before I go… you… were kind of right, ehe!” Venti wriggled in place, removing his hat to rummage inside it. “Forcing you to listen to my new song isn’t the only reason why I’m here~”
Before Xiao could feel any kind of way about this admission, Venti reached out to him with his hand closed into a fist, prompting him to offer his own palm up, confused. He was not expecting Venti to drop a small, black pebble on his waiting hand.
“This is for you!”
Bringing it up to his face, Xiao tried to see what was so special about the pebble, but it looked no different from the rocks he found on his patrol route. Just a normal black pebble, albeit rather polished.
“What is this…?”
“A gift!” at Xiao’s blank look, Venti added, sheepish, “It reminded me of you! See, it’s like your hair!”Or: Xiao, and the journey from a place to a home.
