Hawks was small, really small, the kind of size that Dabi didn't think a kid would even talk at.
Dabi didn't like how small he was, even for baby standards.

Dabi glances at the container, then back at him. "Soup. Like I said, I thought you were sick. Brought you a Todoroki family recipe. But now that I know you were just horny…" He grins, his five tails flicking as he eyes Keigo like a fox cornering a hen.
"Gee, thanks," Keigo snarks. "I'll try it later. Now leave."
"C'mon, Birdie," Touya steps up to the edge of the recess in the floor that holds Keigo's nest, squatting down to smirk at him. "You were moaning my name. You can't tell me that doesn't mean anything."

Yet that's how Hawks finds him, sitting there wrapped in Hawks' jacket, well into preheat and looking like the cat that got the cream.
Hawks blinks and finds himself hovering over Dabi. They are in the omega's nest and Dabi looks... his lips are bitten red, cheeks flushed, chest heaving... he looks debauched.

"Birdie." Dabi calls out to him. No response. Not even a flinch or anything that would indicate Hawks heard him. His brows crease in confusion. He stands up, walking closer to Hawks with caution. Hawks doesn't stop feeling around, doesn’t falter, he doesn't do anything even as his eyes pass over Dabi, as though he wasn't even there.
"Hey. Hawks." Nothing.
Dabi curses under his breath, moving to stand in front of Hawks. He reaches out and touches the man's arm and that has Hawks flinching with a surprised gasp.
"Who's there?" Hawks asks loudly, too loud for the empty apartment. He shrinks away from Dabi. If he looks close enough, he can see Hawks trembling.
He touches Hawks' arm again but the man just slaps his hand away. "Don't t-touch me!"
Or;
Au where Hawks' feathers are literally the only source of his hearing and sight and the HPSC does something to him that leaves all his feathers dead. Dabi finds him blind and deaf and stays with him.
