Summary
Bending down, Eddie scoops the boy up, settling him on his hip with a swing. He jostles him playfully before focusing back on Ana.
“This is Theo,” he says, feeling Theo tilt his head against the crook of his neck at the sound of his name. “He joined pre-k here in May, didn’t you?”
Eddie brushes a clump of hair out of Theo’s eyes, tucking it behind his ear. It springs back to place immediately, unrestrained and uncontrolled. He really is due a haircut, but any time he or Buck mention it, Theo’s arms fly up to protect his hair like they’re going to hack away at it right there and then.
“Yes,” Theo says, voice lispy and a little shy as he blinks at Ana. “Are you a teacher?”

Summary
When Bobby texts him one day saying, “Sending someone your way,” Buck wasn't sure what to expect.
As far as he knows - because Bobby Nash is a little distant despite his best efforts - the man doesn’t really have anyone that he would refer to Buck’s little, hole-in-the-wall, used bookstore.
Maybe one of his crew? Hen’s been around a few times.
What he didn’t expect, though, was the hottest guy on earth to step into his humble little store, looking like a modern-day Adonis.
Fuck.

Summary
"Hen is right; maybe our short-cut isn't as fool-proof as we first thought," Eddie said. "All that needs to happen for it to fall apart is for us to run into a homophobic nurse who'll demand proof before letting us in. And when we can't provide any proof--"
"--we might get banned from visiting altogether!" Buck finished. "No!"
"Yes," Eddie said. "But... legal paperwork? We could do that."
"Like... do what? Go to a lawyer?"
"No, Buck. I'm saying that if - in the future - we might need a marriage certificate to back up our claim, we should just--" He shrugged. "--get one."

Summary
"What she does notice is the way Buck avoids questions that aren’t work-related. No social media. No talk of dating. And whenever Chim annoys him about weekend plans, Buck just shrugs and says he has someone waiting on him. “Partner,” he says, and it’s the only thing they can get out of him about his personal life. Everything else feels like it’s under lock and key."
Or, a 5+1 where Buck and Eddie are already married when Buck comes to LA and joins the 118. Hen attempts to find out more about their new probie who keeps details about his life suspiciously underwraps. That is, until a little boy is brought to the station and thus begins the 118s quest to figure out who Buck’s mysterious partner is.

Bobby looks at the kid.
"So what's the long story?"
“My girlfriend, well…not really my girlfriend. We hooked up a few times and now she’s…uh…pregnant. Five months along. She said she doesn’t want the baby. She has never wanted kids. She found out too late to abort, she said. We were together in Peru, and I was actually planning to go to LA with some buddies of mine when she dropped the bombshell. I…"

Summary
Buck’s been running a lot of errands. Vague errands, like the kind of half-hearted, air-quoted errands someone says they have when they’re scrambling for an excuse. And sure, Buck’s allowed to have errands. Eddie’s just insulted to not be privy to them. They always did ‘errands’ together, before. Now Buck has a seemingly endless laundry list of these stupid fucking errands, disappearing for an hour or two at a time with no further explanations, and Eddie’s going a little bit crazy.
If Buck has a new girlfriend—or boyfriend, for that matter—he should’ve just said so.
***
or: Buck keeps leaving the house to go run 'errands,' and Eddie automatically assumes Buck is secretly dating someone. Eddie is very bad at jumping to correct conclusions.

Summary
“You’re in love with Eddie, Buck.”
Instead of the staunch refusal that Hen expects, Buck just sighs, blinking quickly. “Yeah.” He croaks, like a man marked for death. “I am.”
“Eddie is in love with you, too.”
Buck snorts, a humourless, pained sound. “He’s straight, Hen.”

Summary
Eddie Diaz was happy; he didn’t think that he could be this happy. He has a wonderful husband, his amazing son, and now he has his adorable little girl. He didn’t mind standing in the busy mall full of Christmas shoppers waiting for Buck and Christopher to join them so they could take their little girl to meet Santa for the very first time, even though he didn’t like the idea, but Buck and Christopher wanted to have the memories. He was no longer hiding his sexuality; he was demisexual and proud of it, or, as Chimney teased, he is Bucksexual.
So even though he didn’t believe in the universe being out to get him, at this moment, he was.
Or Eddie just wants to spend the day with his family and quickly have his daughter meet Santa because it's what Buck wants; he didn't want his day to include running into Tommy and Ana. Meeting Santa was bad enough.

Summary
Chris scooted closer to get a better look at it. “Theo, how come Buck and Dad are holding hands?”
“What? We’re not -” He leaned in closer and, sure enough, Buck and Eddie’s respective blobs were connected by a single line.
“Because they’re like Mommy and Daddy,” Theo explained as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Summary
Buck grins. “Sophia promised to teach me how to make tamales, so we need the kitchen.”
Sophia loves bossing Eddie around, he just assumed she would use him for any help she needed. That’s what they always do. But if she is teaching Buck how to make them…
That could really only mean one thing.
“Tamales?” he asks, hand shaking slightly as he takes a drink.
“Yeah!”
Eddie stares at Buck’s smile, at his beautiful, oblivious smile. So. This was Sophia’s endgame. She’s not just here to steal his best friend for herself. She’s here to steal his best friend for herself and marry him and live happily ever after while Eddie watches with a broken heart.
(or, Sophia is teaching Buck a recipe reserved for family. Eddie has a very normal reaction to this.)
